Sorry that I don't have a pic. We have one of our showers that has those fake tile walls, ya know those bathrooms in a day type things where they put up the plastic type tile walls that aren't really tile? Anyway they made the wall to stop 12-18 inches short of the shower pipe. that drywall can get water splashed onto it and it's weakening the wall. I could definitely put my finger thru it if I wanted too. A crude drawing of it is below.

W=wall
t=fake tile wall
s=shower pipe and head

I could add some real tile but I think it may not look right. Any other solutions for this issue?

Replace it with greenboard unless its in the shower..if its in the shower,then use that concrete board which is impervious to water...Gotta tear everything out down to the studs..That plastic tile/board should come right off..Its probably wet all the way down behind it

I replaced my bathroom floor and walls with teak, because I wanted a warmer feel. One of the upsides I have noticed, is when servicing/replacing a pipe, I only need to replace a 1-2 boards of wood, opposed to a whole wall.

Thats interesting..I have always heard.."No wood in bathrooms"...But you make a good point

After living in SE Asia for several years, I redid our bathroom with PEX piping, and installed a drain in the middle of the floor, then tiled from floor to ceiling. Bathroom cleaning is so much easier. We can just use the shower head to rinse the whole thing down.

Pex is the shit...When we did this house the plumber used Pex..I protested (being from the North)..He then took me to his office and showed me a piece of Pex plugged at both ends and filled with water..It had been in the freezer for weeks..He took it out and it looked like a football, but it never ruptured or cracked...That convinced me
