Reading a thread on Reddit, these guys had me rolling. Someone said something about TrueCrypt (encryption software), someone chimed in with "That's how I hide my porn". Then someone suggested they just hide it in a folder called "Nickleback", because, who would ever open that folder. Then they started in with lyrics. Got a good chuckle out of it....

Only problem is if someone does open a Nickleback folder it will be a woman. Probably not the one you want to see that you are looking at porn.

Nickelback is something that, as a Canadian, I find very difficult to comes to terms with, let alone discuss.

I'm still not through apologizing for the creepiness that is Celine Dion.

I used to hide everything in my printers folder. I was even a part of a warez channel on undernet and efnet named #printers(yes # is the prefix for a chat-channel before it was a twitter "hashtag". This was after the first major crackdown after the Net Act of 1997 went through and our channel went untouched LMAO! Every so often people would come in with printer questions, and we just trolled the hell out of them. Told them to put their ink cartridges in the dryer and run it on high heat for 20 minutes. We would tell people to hold their laserjets upside-down while it prints to reset the toner(with certain old model laser printers, it would create a big black dust cloud). Then they saw the FTP timers pop up, and we would have to kick/ban them asap LOL.

But Nickelback ....LMAO!

They say if you play a Nickelback song backwards, you can hear messages from the Devil. Even worse, if you play a Nickelback song normal, you can hear Nickelback.

Oh my. You just brought back some serious IRC memories. The pre-Napster days were something else. I remember bringing custom CD's w/ converted and burned mp3s on them to parties that I got from IRC. Back when burners were about $400 and no one knew what an mp3 was (this was way before the concept of a mp3 player existed). ****, I feel old right now.

I still use IRC :shifty: But yeah, I loved sharing audio. Before the fraunhauffer MP3(the popular version we all know today that superseded the original MPEG-1/2/3 standard) we traded tracker files(MODs, XMs, SOMETIMES MIDI, even though MIDI sucks.) Some of the best music that I have ever heard, came from Amiga trackers of the 80s and 90s, stuff that I am glad to have experienced. It was the immediate precursor to modern techno that somewhat rivaled the later synthpop genre of new wave.

Oh... you mean join the twitter trend? NO, chat, the first standard format of multi-server communications on the internet. #word is not a hashtag to me, it's a channel and always will be. That's like saying the wheel is now a donut.

I hate when Wikipedia, Itunes, etc puts them as a "metal band".

I mean, seriously? What the ****.

Oh yeah, that's why the #printers channel name worked so well for us(and we're back on topic, somewhat!) Every idiot group pushed a channel with warez or appz in the name(yes, appz, not apps, you kids dunno shit <3 ). Groups and channels were getting busted from time to time. The biggest one "close to home" that I remember was Paradigm for reasons I prefer not to talk about. But it was a game within the game to follow the latest raids and a lot of went burred in the news, because Napster-Metallica made all of the headlines pertaining to piracy.

Those days are long gone, but with some of the stuff we know, we could write historically accurate books that challenge the trash on wikipedia about the events.
