1. The Bears may fuck up the GM and coaching hires.... they're still the Bears. But at least there's a chance now. There was no chance with Pace/Nagy. Very happy George did the right thing.

2. It seems like there's a shit ton of good proven defensive coaches available. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of good proven offensive coaches out there. For that reason alone I really hope they consider McDaniels. He's the one offensive coach I see out there that I know is capable of working with different types of players and adjusting on game day. Yes, I know the back story. But Denver was a decade ago and in an offense oriented league he has to be one of the 10 best offensive minds around. He needs to be strongly considered.

3. I don't buy the whole "leader of men" thing. The leader of this team is Justin Fields. Roquan too. Get a head coach that knows how to teach players. Get a head coach that can minimize mistakes. Get a head coach that doesn't make idiot game day decisions. Get a head coach that puts players in the best place for them to succeed. But hiring a head coach to be the team leader? Sorry, that role is Fields and Quan's.

4. This can be turned around FAST. Look at the Bulls and what they're doing. The NFL is a much easier league to do a fast turnaround. With Pace we had CCS posters talking about multi year rebuilds and shit like that. The Bears can be legit playoff contenders in 2 years. We should know that fast. That's my honeymoon period for the next GM/coach.

5. Can't wait to watch some playoff football next week! After watching the Nagy shit show all year it'll be fun to just watch some good football.

Today is a good day. I wanted them to burn everything below McCaskey, and if they remove Teddy from the football operations equation, this was a win of wins for us fans. Hopefully now we have the continental shift we have been hoping for in how this organization is run. I would be so happy if in 2 years we start to resemble the Patriots/Steelers of this world instead of the Lions.

Though I'm not convinced about Mcdaniels, I can come around if he's hired. I see why you're interested.

I mean he's not the perfect candidate. No one is. I can poke holes in everyone of these guys. But the Bears problem is and always has been scoring points. Gotta solve that.

Jim Harbaugh:

- 44-19 as an NFL Head Coach
- Former Chicago Bears QB
- Three consecutive NFC Championship appearances
- Led successful offense with Colin Kaepernick (good sign for Fields development)

He shouldn’t just be the top candidate, he should be the only candidate

Certainly needs to be in the top tier. I just want to know who his OC is.

There is no way the Bears will be a playoff team in 2 years. The hole that Pace created for the next GM is enormous. You would expect a lot of roster turnover with a new GM/HC combo, but the contracts still on the books make that nearly impossible.

If harbaugh is the guy he prob be hired before the gm and he will pick his own gm. If he isn’t on the radar we prob won’t have anything in place for 3 weeks

Completely disagree. No more 4 year “rebuilds”. It’s the NFL. Anyone pitching patience is full of shit.

Lengthy "rebuilds" are nothing more than fan cope. It isn't part of the "plan" - your team just sucks. Let's not pre-excuse years of failure just to dunk on someone who has already been fired.

I just can't be brought around to McDaniels after he's burned two franchises now

I believe in second chances but he was pushing the whole "I've changed" narrative last time when he spoke to the Bears and the Colts and then what happened? He did it all over again. People forget that was only 2018 - this guy is just too toxic to ever bring in as a HC.

And that's before you even start to get into the whole Belichick tree always ending up as fools gold.

What needs to disappear is this “culture” bullshit. There needs to one goal: WINNING! And if you can’t do that you’re out.

I agree with much of this but particularly number one. People are celebrating the firings -- and yes, firing both Pace and Nagy was the necessary first step -- but I will not celebrate until I see who they actually hire for both positions. Way too early to celebrate right now.

1. Agreed.

2. My top candidate. Issue in Denver was a young ego. I'd hope he's been humbled. He certainly wouldn't be allowed to trade Fields to try to get in a Patriots backup.

3. Yes. Yes. Yes! Matt Nagy was more leader than offensive guru. His teams never quit on him, came back from long losing streaks to make the playoffs or runs at the playoffs. If you want leaders, draft leaders. Hire leaders on your staff or develop them with former players who led on the field as assistants. Bring back Fangio as DC, if you have to. Maximize Fields. Score some points. Figure out the rest later. McVay and Shanahan aren't known as leaders.

4. Yep. Bears have a .500 roster. Good at some positions. Bad at others. Overall, an average roster, have been for 4 years. 2018 they got lucky w/ turnovers and the newness/enthusiasm of Nagy. Also had an easy schedule. 2019, finished .500. 2020, finished .500. Both years had pretty neutral schedules. This year, they got unlucky w/ turnovers, injuries, and Nagy wore out his welcome combined with a brutal schedule of playoff teams, teams coming off of byes and no B2B home games. Most of the pieces from an average level roster are going to be here. The hope is coaching, scheme, and a few additional pieces allows the offense to take the next step (aka Fields is good). An average roster with an above average QB is a winning team. An average roster with great QB play is a contender. The Bears are a Fields reaching his potential away from being real good, real fast.

5. Refs will ruin a perfectly good game next weekend.

How many sports teams can you think of that won but had TONS of drama going on behind the scenes? Weren't the Mets and Cowboys doing cocaine during winning seasons? Culture is something losers talk about IMO.

Kevin O’Connell. Mcvay will always call the plays. Give him play calling duties here

Is he a first time play caller? I want someone with experience in that department.

I mean you're right, there is a CHANCE. However slim it is. I was hopeless about the Bulls' situation too after a decade+ of the failed GarPax regime. I was as down on the Bulls franchise as I am now about the Bears.

But things can turn on a dime in pro sports and even the hapless McCaskey regime can luck into a winning franchise, with a little bit of luck and grace from above.
