I see what you're saying, but I don't think Toews is going to go all Lemieux on everybody and suddenly awake the beast. He's still going to see tough assignments as Q likes to match power versus power, but he's gonna be keyed on by the top d pairings every game. It will be interesting no doubt.

Great piece DMelt!!

I do agree the addition of Vermette means more good things for Toews offensively than people seem to realize. Hopefully the two of them can fill the void left behind with Kane being out..

Less Shaw at C is a great bonus as well.

Great article DMelt. Totally agree that it could free up Toews some. Maybe not every shift, but often enough to matter.

Edit: Very well written too.
