several AL teams may be interested if the Cubs pay half his salary. Not sure it's worth it, but if we go to full-rebuild mode, I'd be willing to pay $20M over the next 3+ years to see him not here.

Absolutely, if the Cubs continue the youth movement and don't plan on bringing in a big name player then why not I suppose.

I would not doubt Hendry takes some calls on him..

That's probably the most that'll happen now though.

The issue is how much are we going to have to pay. Soriano making 4 or 5 million a year is actually a valuable piece. I don't know if Ricketts is willing to pay the 42 million it would take to bring his price tag to that level, and I don't know if teams are actually willing to give up anything with Soriano at that price tag. If you have to pay Soriano the money and not get anything, you are better off keeping him on the team. Just don't be afraid to use him properly.

He would still be a starter now, but his time as a starter wouldn't be guaranteed. He would be replaced late in ballgames for pinch runners/defense. If the downward trend in average and power since April continues, look towards a possible platoon in left.

I'd consider putting him at 2nd. With allege outfielders we have I think it would be worth a shot. I mean yeah he is going to be -25 with the glove but I think he would be worth that over the average 2B which is by all means terrible right now.

I think it's probably a lateral move overall from Barney but it allows someone better than Barney to play LF.

It would certainly be fun to watch...
