There’s essentially 3 ½ games that separate the 2nd seed Sharks and 8th seed Hawks in the West…you can make a legit case that any one of the 16 teams that gets in and gets hot has a shot….In the NBA by comparison, there’s 18 games separating the 2nd seed Heat and 8th seed Pacers and, in my opinion, there’s only four teams with a shot at winning the title right now – Bulls, Heat, Celtics, Lakers

Ya, the West has a really tight race. However, the NHL Eastern Conference isn't really as tight.

But last year the Eastern Conference finalists were the Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens.

NBA definitely has the WORST playoff system. But I'd say the NFL still has the best playoffs...they're harder to get into and it's one and done.

Which is why NHL/MLB playoffs are better IMO.

It's kind of silly to compare other leagues playoff systems..... but I will participate anyways :)

I think it's legit to say that the actual play of the games gets 1,000 times more intense and that is what makes hockey playoffs the most enjoyable to watch and the toughest games to win. What I don't buy is how "tough" it is to get in, as compared to the NBA. 16 teams make it in both leagues. That is A LOT of teams, so it is pretty easy to make it into the playoffs in either sport. Does the intensity of those games change? Sure, but not the ease in which you make the playoffs.

Baseball's playoffs? You can't even come close to comparing making the playoffs in baseball as opposed to hockey/basketball. It truly is an accomplishment to just make the playoffs in baseball. In hockey, you are expected to.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs blow every other sports playoffs out of the water. I love all of the playoffs dont get me wrong. But the NHL is on another level when it comes to it. The players are on another level, the fans are insane, the intensity of every play and second shows. There are no lulls in the game like their is in the other sports. (besides intermissions of course)

The one and done aspect of the NFL Playoffs is the only thing I don't like about their system. While I understand the many different reasons why it's illogical to expect NFL teams to play a 3 or 5 game series, you can't determine who is the better team from just one game.

Then again, I guess that's what makes it so exciting; the fact that any team can win on any given Sunday (or Saturday).
