Cincinnati: Biggest Addition: Edgar Renteria, LOL
St. Louis: Biggest Additions: Lance Berkman and Ryan Theriot, don't expect much out of Berkman and Theriot is a LOL
Milwaukee: Biggest Additions: Zack Greinke and Sean Marcum: Bad news for us, but what was up with Greinke last year and his 4/17 or whatever ERA? Was he injured?
Houston: Biggest Additions: Clint Barmes: Wow, HUGE move there.
Chicago: Biggest Additions: Matt Garza, Carlos Pena, and Kerry Wood: I like Garza, but don't like the package we gave up for him, Pena I think will rebound, and I love Kid K. Rotation and Bullpen have been solidified.
Pittsburgh: Biggest Addition: Lyle Overbay: Well, better than Barmes.

CSN save them a B+.

Yeah, ok. I just knew it was a B. I knew they had a good offseason. I expect a big year from Pena. Maybe not a big year but a solid year. I don't think Wood will go on the DL and pitch Solid. Garza will improve from the AL East to the Central. The Cubs could be good, just too many questions. Like Stark says.

Will Castro repeat
Will Woof be placed on the DL
Will Ramirez stay healthy
Will Z keep his emotions down
Can Byrd repeat
Can Soriano get back to 3 years ago
Will Garza make a good transition
etc.

So, I'm not saying this season will be good or bad. It all depends.

Will Castro repeat - Yes
Will Wood be placed on the DL - Probably
Will Ramirez stay healthy - Unfortunately, I don't think so.
Will Z keep his emotions down - That's up in the air.
Can Byrd repeat - No, but he can get close.
Can Soriano get back to 3 years ago - He improved in 2010 from 2009, but probably not.
Will Garza make a good transition - A good enough one.

I answered in the quote.

Yeah see those are good questions, right? If all are yes or close, expect a good year for the Cubs.

What do you mean by good? 82-84 wins? Or 86-90 wins?

86-90 prolly because the NL Central isn't strong. And for some reason the Cubs could always beat good teams and not bad teams. If they switch that, that's just another reason.

If they are over .500 for even 1 day this season I'll be satisfied to be honest. It'll sure beat last season when we never were.

Hope we're better, and considering the 2009 Pirates started off really well, it is definitely possible to see a good stretch of baseball to at least begin the season.

Why can't Byrd repeat what he did last year? He had a lower OPS last year than any of his years in Texas. I don't think it's going to be that hard to repeat a .775 OPS.

Everybody else (thought it was you) had been saying it so much during and after the season that it stuck to me.

And it's no sure thing that Theriot can be an everyday shortstop, either. As one NL exec observed, he "played himself into a second baseman" in Chicago.

I would like to know who said that. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Starlin Castro moved Theriot to 2B.

Theriot wasn't a good shortstop anyway, he proved that he wasn't a competent Shortstop.

Well thats not correct.

Castro wasn't called up because Theriot sucked. He was called up because Fontenot and Baker sucked.

You realize the difference between 2010 Castro and 2008-2009 Theriot is in favor of Theriot right? Theriot was better in 2008 than Castro and 2009 there were nearly identical.

Theriot isn't a good defensive shortstop, that's my point.

Ya, IK. Wasn't comparing the two though.

Then how can you sit here and say Theriot wasn't a good SS, and yet Castro is the greatest thing since sliced bread?

Do I think Castro will have a better career than Theriot? Sure, but people act like Theriot was awful at SS, and he wasn't and in fact he was better there than anything Castro has shown us thus far.

I am not sure if Castro is really all that good of a defensive SS. He makes some nice plays, but he makes a lot of stupid plays too.

His glove can be flashy at times, I still think he should grow into the role. Otherwise, we have nothing keeping him away from second base in the future.
