God Neil rules so hard. I want him to be president. When he starts getting all enthusiastic about people being stardust at like 26 minutes, I almost clapped. If you wanna see why I really love this guy, fast forward to about 45 minutes and watch the next 5 minutes. Particularly when hes talking about people who whine about "Spending money out there when we have problems down here". He pretty much outlines why and gives a historical reason....and he talks about 2012.

I learn so much every time I hear him. They should just record a stockpile of lectures from him and show them in all high schools.

You are leaning on your extensive astrophysics background for that opinion?

Thanks for posting this, I watch everything I see him on. He's so engaging and passionate about his knowledge and need to discover more with a genuine confidence in what he say while still being entertaining and able to speak with people endearingly. I wish there were not only more people like him but more people that though like him, I'd love to just hand out with him for a day and pick his mind, I watch this whole thing and it was better than most things I've seen on TV this year.

Yeah it is called 12 years of general education where I was told it was a planet. And being told the criteria of a planet was not very well defined. So ergo its a planet.

Good stuff. Sadly a lot of people won't even give him the time of day because he is an educated, well spoken black man. Hate saying that but you know it's true. "we need a scientific literate electorate" BOOM!!!

On a side note Colbert is so fucking funny. Neil is pretty damn funny himself that bit about James Camerons sky in Titanic is brilliant!!!! . Great interview...amazing. Very provocative and entertaining and educational at the same time. Thanks TSD

Somewhere this side of sanity.
Wouldn't it be cool if ALL physicists and rocket scientists were as hip as Neil Degrasse Tyson!

Oh, and does it really matter if Pluto is a planet or not, it's still one of the biggest bodies in the solar system, so, it's still unique isn't it? Just sayin'.
