In the wake of the devastating events that unfolded 24 hours ago, I've done alot of thinking about how this situation can turn itself into a positive. Winning a championship would do that, but let's face it, there's a better chance of MJ suiting up to play for the Bobcats than that happening this season. With off-season decisions creeping ever closer & the season looking fairly lost, my mind can't help but wonder about the future of this team.
That brings me to Steve Nash. The #5 all-time in assists is a free agent this summer. Now I know he's said before that he's not a ring chaser & will go to the situation he's most comfortable in, & I began to think, why not us? I mean honestly, Rose is gone til at least January, Watson & Korver both have options up this off-season, & we will be in desperate need of a star playmaker to maintain a place in the upper echelon of the league. Why not take a run at 1 of the best PG's of all time? Whether that means a trade package to get him or the real hope that he signs for a mini-mid level (which I highly doubt happens) it is worth a legitimate shot. When Rose returns, Nash can be that second playmaker off the bench & instill his wealth of knowledge upon a willingly protege.
Age is going to be the question, but Nash has been fairly healthy his past 4 seasons & still recorded the most assists this season. At 39, this guy still has ALOT left in the tank, & I feel it's GarPax's responsibility to take a good hard look at him & try & bring his talents to this team.
