Nope. I am not dropping $140 bucks on some shitty fan club that just popped up again. I don't begrudge anyone who does, but I can think of better things to drop my cash on.

And again, why do the Standby's get better treatment then investors?
How did we get better treatment?

We just happened to be at the UC for the Standby's meeting, and the Cup happened to be in town for the GP parade, and IT/the Cup was HOME at the UC at the time.

I think, just by luck we happened to be at the right place at the right time.

NO WAY the Hawks would have brought the Cup into town just to have at the Standby's meeting.

Jako I think the membership is $49.00, $149.00 for a family of 4 or more.

We received 4 Standby shirts, one that you see Mr. Stu modeling above in the Stanley Cup photo. Plus 4 of these.......

18x14 double matted photo. And if you know how much the matting alone costs... I would say we got a great return.

Jako, you and Megan are more that welcome to join us as our guest, for the next Standby's meeting, which will be held at the UC.

I am wondering if the Standbys will be doing something special for the convention, besides MAYBE the Dinner cruise.....I must investigate! ;)

Ya, because you know you would be the first one tossed overboard.....more than likely by Kane or Seabs!
HA!

I just refuse to be part of a band wagon fan club. I don't have any angst against those who chose to join, it's just not me. Where the **** was this fan club the past decade? Because the team was poor the club disappeared? Really?

Sorry 149$ to be part of a fan club that was NO WHERE around while the 5000 of us were sitting there being FANS can kiss my fat fucking ass.

And there are multiple prices Stu. If you want a private skate party, it's more, if you are a family it's more. Ect ect. I also don't think its the fact they treated anyone any better, more so the fact they had the opportunity available there and have not done one FUCKING THING to make sure the People that PAY for the Organization had a chance with the Cup. To get a picture, touch it, what ever. YOu know the ones that NEVER LEFT to begin with. The Standbys fucking left. Some Fan Club.

Just like the fans.........not seen.

Sure it is McDonough's way of adding to the cash flow....DUH...that's his job.

I saw what you all posted about joining the Standby's :hand: , I thought we would try it out.

Yes the Blackhawks have their hands in it, more than their hands from the looks of it.

Might that add to more perks????

So far it has, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I also would check the membership page at the Standby's site, some new perks have been added.

Oh, and by the way, if you join , this years membership goes though the end of next season.

That's the life story. No one kisses the ass. Just ask Michelle.

And don't get me wrong I was not knocking anyone for joining the Club. Fortunately for me I have other avenues to do stuff that most don't. I completely understand and if I didn't feel this "fan club" abandoned it's team I might, just might, have joined. But no, they like many other fans abandoned the team, so did the fucking fan club. As if it had anything to do with the team on the ice, who I and many never stopped supporting.

Save yourself the money and go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Same Cup, get your picture taken, see a couple exhibits, and McAssclown sees no money for it.

I think that perhaps with so little fan interest, it was no longer worth their time and effort and money to continue on.

Many members DID continued to stay in contact through all these years.

Plus remember, this was BEFORE computers!

It took ALOT of time and effort to type out and $ to mail out 30 or 40 newsletters. Much quicker to make phone calls.......or word of mouth.

Sort of like The O's and IHN....just imagine what it would be like if there was no way of contact through computers!

Just giving you another way of looking at it.

1998-2007 was not before computers. Nor was it before the CBH message board, which had plenty of fans chatting away. Fan Club, not a chance. They gave up.

The only way I'm going to view it is they gave up on their team. No matter ownership, the team on the ice had nothing to do with that.

Plus, computers scare old people sometimes.....you know just like cell phones and touch tone phones.......they want the rotary dial back!

Some of these people are old enough to be my parents!

Ok, I did find my STH gift. Apparently the wife opened it up, then tossed it into the junk drawer quickly afterwords when she were cleaning up for some guests and forgot about it.

I don't begrudge you Stu, I am glad you and your family got to be there and be so close to the Cup. I know you and Mr. Stu have been to many games, fans for a long time, and I am seriously happy for you.

I understand it was just a happen to be in the right place at the right time. All I am saying is that the STH deserve that too.

and Eruns, I would still go off on your ticket rep.
