Ain't this bout a b##tch??

NYT: N.B.A. Talks Stall and Games A

The meetings today did not go well.
Owners offered 50/50 and players refused again still demanding 52.2%
David Stern garentees there will not be an 82 game season as he has canceled the whole month of November.
It seems the owners refuse to budge over a petty 2%..that is greedy as hell....It makes the fans extremely angry considering we are the ones who buy there tickets and over exspensive food at games in which they profit extremely well...The owners are disssing us which I see as very poor marketing when the NBA is a product and we are the ones that buy the product..the product is the players...We go to games and watch them on T.V to see the players, not the owners..So the owners sole job is to make the players and coaches happy so they produce..All the players wwant is 2 more %....If the owners don't get off there greed trip, them they will destroy there product and loose the buyers,(US)..................

And if they hold out for that extra 2.2% then the players will get a total of 0%. And I'm pretty sure it will hurt the players a hell of a lot more than it would the wealthy owners to miss out on next season.

But they shouldn't accept a royal **** job either. The owners are going to have to cave. The players are giving in too much as it.

The players should not budge no more and hold there ground....They already budged enough and they are being resonable...The owners don't give a crap about them or us..The owners just want new yahts and are rich enough to be able to afford missing up to 2 whole seasons...If this lockout goes this long then the ownwers will create there own demise...They will lose the fanbase(customers) and employees(players) in the end rendering them out of business..plus don't forget all the other people with jobs that work for these orginizations...So much to contributing to Americas messed up economy.....The players have skills that can't be replaced and don't come a dime a dozen...European teams and other basketball orginizations around the world are ready and willing to pay american players to come over there..Or else the players can orginize there own league..We the fans will go see them play or watch them on tv.....No one gives a ratz azz about the owners...they are nothing without the players, there product........ALL OF THIS IS THE OWNERS FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE.THEY ARE THE ONES THAT STARTED OVERPAYING PLAYERS DECADES AGO..AND THIS GOES FOR ALL SPORTS...can't take it back now....

To say that the owners are totally at fault for the lockout is silly. It's clear that the old agreement has cost the league millions of dollars over the years. This lockout needed to be done in order to have a long-term agreement.

The players should not budge any more, and hold there ground. They've already budged enough, and they are being reasonable. The owners don't give a crap about them or us. The owners just want new yachts, and are rich enough to be able to afford missing up to 2 whole seasons. If this lockout goes this long, then the owners will create their own demise.

They will lose the fan base (customers), the employees (players), in the end rendering them out of business. Plus, don't forget all the other people with jobs that work for these organizations. So much to contributing to America's messed up economy. The players have skills that can't be replaced, and don't come a dime a dozen. European teams and other basketball organizations around the world are ready and willing to pay American players to come over there.

Or else the players can organize their own league. We the fans will go see them play or watch them on TV. No one gives a ratz azz about the owners, they are nothing without the players, their product. ALL OF THIS IS THE OWNERS FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT STARTED OVERPAYING PLAYERS DECADES AGO. AND THIS GOES FOR ALL SPORTS. Can't take it back now.
I have said each and every thing you have said and I feel the same way. The owners are trying to **** the players because they feel they can at this point because most of the players are young and the older vets are close to retiring. They know they are sitting on a goldmine of young talent that the audience is interested in and they are trying to drive mostly all of the revenues their way.

This is unspeakably unfair to the players who bust their asses for the spirit of competition and for our entertainment. These companies and owners rake in untold billions off of these men, so they are more than deserving of the millions they are getting. It's just compensation for the market in which they are in.

The owners NEGOTIATED the old agreement.

The problem is, they wanted to have no accountability for their own misappropriation of funds and bad signing decisions. Player salaries are "too high" due to reckless owners and inept GM's & scouts.

The players as a whole should not be punished for their failures.

Does anybody else realize that unless the players take the 50/50 or what the owners offer, there won't be a NBA season?

This^

The players' association would have to be completely moronic not to take this deal. There is no denying that the owners are responsible for allowing this mess to happen in the first place but the ball is in the players' court now. It is either taking 50% or 0%. Anyone in their right mind would take 50%.

Yes, and they shouldn't be forced to take a fuckjob of a deal.

The players have already given too much back to the owners and these greedy bastards want more. This isn't even respectful of them as men and what they do and the service they provide.

50/50 may sound good to you and I, but in the context of what they do, 50/50 is heavily favored towards the owners.

The players and the union can't start accepting these massive deals, knowing full well what it would lead to down the road then plead ignorance later on. Both sides are eually to blame IMO.

The union isn't dumb. They knew what the huge contracts would lead to.

I agree completely with you that the 50/50 deal is good for the owners for the most part and not the players. But the fact is, that's the best offer the players are going to get. So for the players sake, they should just take the deal and get the money they can because they won't be able to get the money back from missed checks.

The owners have plenty of time on there hands and they will not budge on 50/50 no matter how long the lockout takes..I applaud the players for standing there ground, but it is in there best interest to just take the dam 50/50 and move on....that just means tey should wait to buy there new Mercedes and settle for a Cadillac this year...Because right now they arnt getting payed. A dam thing........50% is better than 0%.....and they won't get diddly squat until they start playing.....time to move on with a little paycut because the players will still be rich anyway..
