No, Austin is not ready yet. I'm not 100% sure he makes the senior squad. Remember, being drafted is nothing more than an invitation to tryout. I think Austin was a sound pick, because of the potential he represents, not because he will make an impact right away. I understand the thought process, by picking a defender to develop, but I feel Chicago may have been better served by drafting the best asset, regardless of position. Personally, I would have selected Chandler Hoffman or Enzo Martinez at that point. Then again, no one's paying me the big bucks to manage a MLS team, so what do I know?

I don't mean to sound as if I don't rate Austin Berry, I definitely do, I just think he will take a few years to develop before he's ready. When he does, he has the potential to be fantastic.

I'm a bit surprised that Chris Estridge fell as low as he did (and I'm also a bit sad we didn't pick him up).

I'm not baffled by the Defensive pick, as our foreign signings are going to be young enough for the mid and attacking end, and let's face it, hen the owner and technical staff go out to buy a 'name' player, they're usually not going to dip into the market for a big price tag defender. That, and grooming a domestic product for defensive purposes seems to breed a bit more loyalty to a club....it's a bit out there, as far as rationale goes, but it's a reality.
