Looking at 5.1 systems. Some of the speakers are just mid/high and the separate subwoofer handles the bass. But in some systems the remote speaker have bass, mid and high in them. Wouldn't each of those different configs sound different?

Also, one site touts Kevlar in their speakers as a differentiator. What do you think about that.

Just like people have different tastes, and different rooms, and different seating configurations. You have options galore.

I like Full range always. The cross/eq doesn't have to utilize all of the range, all of the time.

What?

That didnt answer my question. I have not been able to find any discussion on why someone would prefer one over the other

Yes, they will sound different.

Bose essentially ruined audio for the last 20+ years with the tiny speaker crap. Separating the octaves and tricking your perception.

The material of the cone may or may not be lighter/more responsive. Stronger to stop flex or a large handful of other properties that change T/S parameters. The driver may have an excellent cone design, but the motor, spiders, former, surround could all suck.

I have a surround system, and I had a hard time hearing the dialogue..Seems the effects drowned everything out..I went in and adjusted the center speaker like 10 times the level of the other speakers and its acceptable now...I have the same problem at a movie..The special effects drown the voices out

Sometimes people don't get what surround sound is. I've seen setups that just the 5 channels equally, a la old sound formats. Most receivers have a 'tuning' type function that adjust volumes based on a sound test (using a microphone obviously). Each speaker should different function, for example the center channel is where the speech/voice usually comes from.

Yeah...We did all that, and on the test the center speaker was just fine...But when we watched a TV show or a movie thru the DVD player, the center speaker was low..Thats why we had to manually increase the center speaker.
