yeah didn't have a great regular season but seems like money well spent now. didn't like the deal at first but if he keeps it up and helps take us to another cup its all good.

Bickell's getting decent ice time again and his linemates can't get much better in Toews and Hossa. His numbers had to improve in those circumstances.

I do think its kinda funny.... the NBCSP crew were saying Bickell is good in the playoffs cause he can go hard all the time and not worry about gassing out.

Which.... I think is bullshit, cause in regular season if you truly gas out and have no legs then Coach Q can sit you down for a couple games and let someone else fill in while in the playoffs its more worrisome because each game is so important so you cannot gas out during a game or sit down for a couple games and not risk hurting your team and getting bounced from the playoffs. And fatigue is a bigger factor in the playoffs when you play every other day IMO.

I think Bickell is just similar to Crawford mentally where they simply rise to the playoff occasion and play better hockey because they know how much more important the games are.

I do not think it has to do with conserving and not playing hard physically but rather not being quite as amped up mentally for regular season games and for a guy like Bickell he is not like Toews or Kane or Hossa where talent alone can allow you to coast a bit but still contribute, he has to be in the game mentally 100% or you can tell he aint a big factor.

But as the NBCSP crew said, I will take a Bickell in the playoffs for that money.... same with Crow.... we got other guys who get us to the playoffs during the regular season.

Exactly. We have the talent to get us into the playoffs, and we have the right tools that seem to take off once playoff time comes. I believe that Bickell does rely on his "comfort zone" to raise his confidence. He might be a better student of the game and has a better overall style of play when he is able to study a team for 4-7 games. This holds true when you think about the different styles of play you are facing every other day in the regular season. When I was playing beer league a couple of years ago my level of play would seem to elevate as the season wound down. I averaged about 1.5 points per game during the season, but once I figured out the styles of play of the other teams in the league my play elevated and I would get 3-5 points per game during the playoffs. <<<< Could be a reason similar to Bickell...... just to mention he is a god compared to my abilities. lol
