Fusion Garage`s joojoo Tablet -
seems a bit pricey
That's what I have, and I bought it for $450 18 months ago. I'm not suggesting you buy it.
The price went up because those wonderful review sites(this is sarcasm) gave it bad reviews. Most likely because Fusion Garage wasn't giving away freebies or paying to sponsor their sites/magazines(small companies, shame on them).
After it got into the hands of honest people, they were BLOWN AWAY. And now, 2 years after the big tablet push, nobody has yet to make anything quite as smart or useful since, therefore a discontinued product like the joojoo has gained quite a bit of a demand, and the last of them that are still available for purchase have skyrocketed in price.
That's what people get for being complacent and just passing off the information that they get from the many crooked review-sites. I'm well aware of this phenomenon from untrustworthy review-sites, so of course, I did the added research in all areas, and looked at all products before I made the purchase. I do not regret it at all. But I also have bought tablets before this one, including other UMPCs. Therefore I was personally able to fit right into the interface, unlike someone who thinks they are a geek, but buy apps off some app store, and act like they are technologically advanced LMAO!!!!
But yeah, Fusion Garage is releasing the Grid10, which I might pick up. It's not as innovative as the joojoo, but it's an upgrade nonetheless, as well as being friendly to those who like the whole android(even iOS) interface.
We are stuck in this "App" phase. For anyone who truly experienced the app phase of the early 90s, you will know that it's not a jump in technology, but more of a regression. That's why my personal suggestions for any tablet will not be to go out there, and buy something that locks you up to this type of user experience(No, I'm talking about jail/jailbreaking). You should be able to create your own experience with technology, not just share a few set tools of functionality. Don't limit yourself! So find a good breed of tablet that isn't going to tie you down to a few "app stores/markets" and actually lets you do things that a tablet is supposed to do, LIKE REPLACE THE NEED FOR USING PAPER AND PENS!
Yes, I'm looking at you, you overgrown cell phone clones!.
And to clarify, I haven't tested the Grid10 yet, so I can't recommend it, nor will I be a douchebag that just passes on the bullshit that I read off gizmoto/engadget/tomshardware/macaddict ect.
