I caught up with Taj Gibson at media day, and in one of the most interesting answers to a question I got on the day, Taj Gibson said he's working on becoming a stretch four. While he said it's still...

If Taj Gibson takes three point shots next year(or any year, as a matter of fact), I'm throwing my TV out the window. This is the last thing I want to hear a power forward saying. Taj should be worrying about bulking up, his midrange game, and most importantly, POST MOVES.

He needs to be better at his 18 foot jumper. I really see nothing wrong with it since it helps out your game so much being able to drive with a quick pump fake

didn't he say he wont be trying it until next year? hopefully that should give time for ample consideration on whether he should be taking a 3. i think he's been hitting the 3, because he's recovering from plantir fascitis. he couldn't really work on post moves etc.

I see no problem if he is hitting them. Seems like he will be playing a brad miller type roll.

There is nothing wrong with working on 3pt shots. Its one thing to develop shots, it's another to have a piss poor shot selection, and fall in love with jumpers.

I had plantar fasciitis for years, and there is no way you can just take pain killers and ignore it. Your feet have to adjust and heal. Other than shooting, there aren't many things, a player can work on, and recover from a foot deformation.

exactly. it'd be nice to see him go easy in practice. just let him work on shooting, so no injuries occur during practice.

Exactly, he said he reworked his whole shot to make it quicker and better and is working to extend his range, first out to 18 feet and eventually the three point line.

He has a long range plan and a short range plan, but he's going about it exactly the right way. First he's attempting to become a good mid range shooter, and if successful will continue to attempt to build three point range.

Nothing about his statements indicated he was going to start chucking threes or fall in love with his jumper.

If Taj can become a stretch 4, more power to him. If nothing else, we should see a much better midrange jumper this seasonp, which is always good to have, especially since Noah has an inconsistent jumper...or at least one that people still occasionally cringe at seeing.

NOooOOoo.. Hope he doesn't turn into Channing Frye. The Suns ruined that guys career. Taj could be a great post player, he's quick and has length. Just keep working on your post moves Taj. If you wanna work on your threes? ok but please don't start shooting threes anytime soon. idk..

I don't think Taj could be a great anything, especially in the post. But I do agree that the post is something that should have been emphasized more by the team for him to work on. Having a guy off your bench with a go-to move in the post would be a luxury. I also think that would increase his value as an asset to the team or in future trades if he showed some abilities in the post. Why not a turnaround jumper or a fade away in the post instead of threes? Player development will be an interesting area to watch going forward with Thibodeau.

The funny thing about guys in Taj's position...he needs to take 1-2 three's a night...and hit 1 out of every 4 or 5. That's it. make one 3 every two games. If you actually knock one down with any regularity, defenses will be forced to respect it...which pulls the other teams PF out of the post and makes him susceptible to a pump-fake...The fact that it is something that he's experimenting with just proves his willingness to be the most effective he can be, imo.

If he only hits one out of every 4 or 5, then he shouldn't be taking threes. Defenses will roll out a red carpet for Taj if he shoots at that percentage. If that was all it took, Bill Wennington would have shot more threes...

..................Channing Frye averaged career highs Points, blocks, assists, and still put up 5.3 RPG(had a career high in DefRPG)...and he shot 44% from 3pt land last season...........

I ask again...does anyone on this site actually watch basketball?
