My 2nd job at the age of 17 was as a telemarketing company in Tucson called the Matrix. We moved peeps from sprint and mci to at&t. I called a guy on father's day once and he flipped out on me. Ranting and raving about ruining his special day. I told him "How lucky you must be to NOT have to work on father's day. I am not even with my kids." It shut him up real quick. I quit two weeks later.

LOL about ruining his special day. Never understood the need to be a dick to telemarketers. I'm pretty sure none of them WANT the job.... it's just a job they have to do at that time for whatever reason. Whenever a telemarketer calls me and I'm not interested I tell them thank you but I'm not interested right now and hang up. No need to be a dick.... but no need to listen to the pitch for ten minutes either.

Exactly. I learned a couple of important life lesson that day. One of which was don't grow up to be an onrey dick! Be grateful for your time on earth bc were all lucky to be here!

I politely express my disinterest and hang up. Unless I hear them doing any sort of pleading, then I'll put the phone down and walk away so they can wonder if I'm there or not but still get their sales pitch out to please the bosses without me having to listen.

I never understood people getting bent out of shape because they have to answer the phone and say thanks but no thanks

I'm polite and then block them. Or I get excited and act like I want it all..... As soon as I get paroled.

They're just pussies. The phone, like the internet, is a tool for some to act tough.

If I have the time, I like to **** with them. Ask them their names, where they live, married with kids and such. Then inform them I also sell exactly what they are but for less and if they give me their home phone # I'd love to call and discuss it with them.

I've also noticed that if you tell them they have to call a different number, like a main office, they're quick to end the call.

They'll call the cell phone too but that's easy to dismiss cause I just don't answer calls that are numbers I don't recognize.

I am shocked so many of you are still getting called by a human being. I get nothing but phone bots.

The worst bot calls are the ones that try to act human.

"Hello."

*pause*

"This is Michelle....how are you today?"

*pause*

"Fantastic. I am calling today about....."

I did not mind the telemarketers, but **** you for making me have small talk with a machine.

Almost every day I get called by a scam outfit representing itself as Microsoft and claiming my computer is infected and I need to buy their product. Explaining I am on the do not call list, calling them out on being lying scumbags, politely requesting to be taken off their list, reporting them to the FCC, none of these have worked. The other day I had my dog bark into the phone and haven't got a call but we'll see how long that lasts.

Who I really blame for this is Verizon, who will only temporarily block a number for free. If you want to block it permanently you have to pay them to do it. Smh.

This guy (it might be only one guy) is super aggressive. I bet he has ripped off a lot of seniors in his time. I really hope the feds catch him and lock him up for a long time.

I typically just scream as loud and obnoxiously as I can into the phone once I realize it's a telemarketer.
