When a telemarketer calls you do you?

A. Hang up
B. Click 9 to be removed from their list
C. Engage the person/company calling and troll them by pretending to be interested.
D. Make strange sounds but don't actually talk to the person. ie. Animal sounds, clicking sounds, put the phone up to whatever porn you're currently watching, etc.

I usually go with choice D myself. I've given up on option B as they never remove me from their list. Option C takes too much time, and option A while frequently convenient, is just not very satisfying.

i usually tell them that the person they're looking for died. If they're trying to loan me money i ask if it matters that i declared bankruptcy last week. both of those work.

lol.

I tell them that Im interested and ask them to hold on a minute...Then I go watch TV for an hour

I used to do this, but it seems to be mostly recorded messages these days so I just don't answer anymore.

You ever get the ones that just launch into their stuff without giving you a chance to tell them to **** off?

I will usually give them 15 seconds or I hangup.

The charity ones where they launch into a spiel and then wind up with like "So can I put you down for 50, 100, or 200$ to support the families of fallen heroes?" piss me off.... it feels like charity bullying... YOU HAVE NO CHOICE UNLESS YOU WANT TO ADMIT YOU DONT GIVE A **** ABOUT DEAD HERO FAMILIES!!!1111

I was doing the math one day on what it would cost me, post taxes, if I gave to every person or group that begged me for money every day.

1. 50$ to homeless people every day I go downtown for work assuming ~10 people and 5$ per.
2. 10$ to charity groups that hangout on the sidewalks or in Union Station looking for donations assuming ~2 groups and 5$ per.
3. 250$ a year to charity groups calling me assuming 5 groups a year at 50$ per.
4. 50$ a month if I sign up for all the save the children, save the vets, save the whales, save the trees, save the dogs people downtown.
5. 10$ a month to various people who stand on traffic medians looking for donations.
6. 100$ a year to FB friends/family posting about needing donations for various charities.
7. W/e the **** it costs to get those dog commercials off my TV.
8. W/e the **** it costs to get those impoverished children off my TV.

Even if I did just homeless and charity groups every day downtown, that's like 300$ a week, 1200$ a month, 14,000$ a year.

Instead I've just become an asshole who ignores everyone who asks for money.

I usually go along with them, but then start asking them about personal stuff, and to end it off i tell them I'm currently living in Bulgaria. Telemarketers hate Bulgaria apparently

We are on the "do not call registry" but still get the occasional call. Depending on mood, I usually just tell them to remove me from the list. Or sometimes, like I did at my old job when I got unsolicited calls, tell them I am just finishing something or in another part of the business and put them on hold. And never pick back up. I figure that way I'm saving some other poor dude the time in getting cold called. That obviously works better when you have multiple phone lines.

I'm polite and decline.
I figure they hate their job more than I hate the calls.
At least their working.

When they interrupt my Warhammer Total War battles I answer the phone "WHO DARES DISTURB THE EMPEROR DURING HIS GLORIOUS VICTORY?!?!"
