In a magical vacuum, if we had the choice to keep Thabo or pick up Brewer last year, who would you rather have for this 2011-12 season?

I think we ultimately landed the better player and fit, but I think I might be in the minority of objective fans(ones that aren't going to go all homer in the discussion).

Brewer. He's not as good of a defender as Sefolosha but he's a better scorer because of his ability along the baseline and improved jump-shooting. But it's close.

I think they both have different defensive focuses for being exactly the same position. Thabo is a better spot-up shooter, and he can get streaky as hell. Brewer can shoot from his spots effectively, and he loves that baseline. There is nobody like Brewer from the baseline. *Maybe* Kobe is better at playing the baseline, but it's not a big part of his game like it is for Ronnie.

I would say they are both equally good, as clutch defenders. But Sef is a lot better in switches from going on the ball handler, to over-head activity.

Sef also plays a role with 2 volume scorers, so statistically, his numbers are bad scoring-wise. He would average more with the Bulls. Maybe as much as a 8-13ppg scorer, but that is totally hypothetical.

But here is the kicker. Brewer, Boozer, and Korver have comfort zones on the court with each other in many configurations. The Jazz guys feed off each other well, and whether or not Sef could get that same chemistry makes the answer clear.

I will go with Brewer.

Not only because I think he is a little better individually but mostly because he fits better within the team. For example Boozer and Korver were already used to play with him when they all came here.

If I´m not wrong Brewer gets the ball at the baseline from Korver and Boozer most of the time.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised.

Nobody thinks we would be better with Thabo? Hopefully someone who hasn't voiced an opinion yet, can come here and make his case. I have heard people say Thabo > Ronnie before, but the people who make this claim never make a case.

The main reason I would take Sefolosha over Brewer (if I were to do so, and I'm not) is the 3pt shooting. He gives just a little more spacing on the court and probably similar if not better defensive ability. That said...Brewer has that Jazz chemistry which you can't replace and he has the ability to "create for himself" on that baseline. We hardly ever run plays for Brewer, but he finds all kinds of scoring opportunities on the baseline. Overall he can impact the game more on offense because he doesn't have to be a spot up shooter. His shooting has been crap lately and that needs work, but I think overall he has improved his jumper. He's comfortable shooting 3s (even if he doesn't make any still) which shows his confidence. If he can find his mid range jumper again, I think it'd be a no brainer in his favor.

Stop Being Bias! Give Me Thabo!

I would have kept Thabo and Gordon together at SG now looking back at the situation and how the Bulls are now having problems finding a good SG, that would be a excellent combination with Gordon scoring and Thabo Defense...very similar to how Thabo and Harden is effective with the Thunder now

nothing against Brewer, he is solid but both play similar roles with their respective teams

brewer. hands down brewer. better defender, more efficient role player. Thabo can shoot 3, but I'd rather have brewer's efficient 6-10 pts than thabo's occasional 3.

Umm... No. If the Bulls would have given BG the $ he wanted we would of had no shot at getting one of the BIG free agents in the summer of 2010.

They are essentially the same player except Thabo has the cooler name. I'd say it's a toss up. I don't think having Thabo over Brewer would make much difference.

I like Thabo. It's just a shame that during his time here he was being hyped up as a possible 20ppg scorer who was a mid-1st round steal, & nearly every fan fed into this & absolutely crucified him when he turned out to be a just a solid, defensive role player.

Hmm, prolly would stick with Brewer here. I never had any issue with Sef though cause he is a decent overall player.
