This series at worst for the Indians is going back to Cleveland for atleast one more game. Now that was expected but for you guys to lose the first game at home is extremely troubling especially being shut out. This is eerily similar to what happened with the Mets and the Royals last year. The Mets won game two and looked good going home before laying 3 straight eggs. I dont think you guys will lose tommorrow but facing Kluber coming off a shut out is trouble. I believe its do or die tommorrow for you guys. I really really hope you guys get back to cleveland up 3-2 or its over. :obama:

It ain't over till it's over. Not even down 3-1. Lester gets game 5, cubs get that one then they are back in an American League park against whatever scrub pitcher they want to throw out. Win that and it's game 7 against Kluber on his 3rd start in 9 days, I'll take those odds.

I agree completely. Down 3-1 with Lester, Good Jake, Hendricks (against Kluber on short rest AGAIN)... I favor the Cubs in all of them.

but we need Good Jake and some serious bats at that point

Obviously prefer getting the bats back against Kluber and get to Cleveland with a series lead... but I'll take it any way possible

Yep. That's how I'm feeling too.

So far in these playoffs it seems that reality flips the script. We win when we're supposed to lose and lose when we're supposed to win. That's not to say that we will win tonight (because Kluber, and we're supposed to lose), but that reality simply doesn't pay any attention to the narrative.

I feel like the remaining games will each be a coin toss.

Yeah, I think the cubs will get to Kluber seeing him three times in 9 days, plus Schwarbs gets back in the lineup for game 6, but the blueprint of this series was to not worry about Kluber, just beat the starters of the other 4 games.

And they can start by beating Kluber tonight. No excuses

My point was more that everyone (well, fans) seemed to think last night's game was in the bag because of the Tomlin/Hendricks matchup and being back in Chicago, while tonight's game is in the bag for Cleveland because of Kluber again. Well, we lost last night and I think the odds of winning tonight are a lot higher than some think.

In a nutshell: It ain't over until it's over.

Why not? Dodgers did.

Sure if we lose tonight it's extremely unlikely we will win it, and in all likelihood it's over. But it can happen.

I was at bowling last night so I wasn't able to watch the game as closely as I usually do but I did see enough to know the Cubs did not play their usual style of patience at the plate. The worst part was that the usual bad ball and strike calls were there, but highly in favor of the Cubs. It was a game that they gave away by chasing bad pitches even while the umpire for the most part was squeezing the Cleveland pitchers...they had everything going for them but chose to try to hit the ball to Waukegan instead. It's not the first time we've seen over eagerness at the plate with a big wind blowing out but you'd think they'd know better than to drift away from what's gotten them where they are.

This is the first time I've seen a Cubs fan admit that favorable strike zone. My Cubs friends were crying about it last night, and then after that horrendous ball 4 call on Bryant that was so blatantly a strike, they were saying... "Kluber had it better in game 1!!!"

So I did a bit of work. Here is Hendricks' and Tomlin's strike zones from last night(the bottom two of each photo were photoshopped to show the actual strike zone for each pitcher):

And here is Kluber vs. Lester from game 1:

I find it interesting that Lester got no calls in the top of the zone, but got calls at the bottom of the zone. Basically, his strike zone was just shifted down a few inches.

Last night's strike zone irked the **** out of me. Just call it consistently for both teams! Ugh. Thankfully, once Hendricks got pulled, it seemed to go back to normal. But Hendricks was getting ALL the love.

1. The odds of Cubs winning today are probably a solid 35-40%.
2. Cleveland can absolutely lose 3 games in a row. I give that a good 25% chance.

You realize we're favored tonight?

The solid 35% chance youre giving us is closer to 55-60

YOu are aware that Cleveland hasnt lost 3 in a row this season? The odds of it happening now are not likely. Its also not that you guys lost but were shut out and now tonight have 1 run through 7 innings. I think if you guys lost tonight and came back to win 3 straight to win it all would be all time great but the odds are really going ot be stacked against you. I think we need to hope they win tonight.

Indians pitching has been incredible , they tried to give the Cubs that first win in Wrigley but too many hero swings , not starting Heyward in RF?

I am hoping for a miracle :saxy::eek:hmy: Chapman for the :cubswin:

Anyone know if Wrigley will be open for the games in Ohio?

They lost 3 in a row 7 times this season...

Also, just for the record now, they lost 2 in a row 20 times...
