Talk in the Chicago Weather thread got me thnking.... people complain about it being too chilly to go to the beach and to that I think "Good... I would rather not go to the damned beach"

Don't get me wrong, I will go to the beach once in a while and the bikinis are nice.... but other than that, spending a day with sand in everything I eat, drink, or do is not my favorite. Once a year or so is enough for me....

Am I alone in this opinion or do any of my fellow posters share a dislike of a day sweating on the beach?

I like to get to the beach every now and again but prefer to stay poolside for most of the summer.

Now thats a nice compromise my friend... I like golfing as well.... hate getting on the beach when golfing though.... maybe thats where my beach dislike comes from :D

For four years Ewa Beach was right out our front lanai when we lived in Hawaii. It. Never. Got. Old.

I didn’t know it prior to being stationed there but as it turns out we are beach people. We would go to a better beach (Waimea, Lanikai, Waimanalo) on the weekend and stay there from 9 am to sunset. Surfing, boogie boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, people watching and just playing catch was our idea of a great day. Typically we would take the gear to do all of it every time we went to the beach.

For me the key to beach comfort is a sport umbrella that can handle the wind and good beach chair to relax in between activities.

This was the view from our lanai. We called it our weekday beach. My goal now is to be able to retire near a beach some day.

I love the beach as well. I go probably 2x a month on average when the weather accommodates....which is like 9 months out of the year.

Beautiful view Sere.
