Dont know if it was a reach ala velus jones jr, but they def grabbed him out of desperation based on how bad the DT position was.

He prob still would have went in the 3rd based on the scouting reports I saw, and he was also a top 10 HS recruit.

Just even based on the draft room videos the bears looked SUPER hyped to get dexter, but there was barely any emotion for the pickens pick.
