I honestly think that Daniel "Carbomb" Carcillo is going to be one of those athletes in Chicago who went from "villian" on another team to "beloved" on our team.

Think AJ Pierzynski and Dennis Rodman but NHL-style.

An article in today's trib shows that he respects what it means to be a Blackhawk and to put that original six indianhead sweater on.

He also seems to like the city and the reception he's been getting thus far and wants to work his ass off for the team and the city:

Chicago Blackhawks: Daniel Carcillo solid in Chicago Blackhawks debut - chicagotribune.com

To put a jersey like that on for a team that has been around for so long with so much history, and obviously a winning organization, is a pretty special honor," Carcillo said following the Hawks' 4-1 defeat at CONSOL Energy Center. "Playing for any NHL team is pretty special but it just gives you a little kick in the butt every night to perform because you look at the organization and the players who have played here. You want to do it right and kind of give them their justice."

"Everyone knows my reputation and it overshadows my talents at times," said Carcillo, who stayed out of the penalty box against the Penguins. "That's partly my fault. It's something I've been working on throughout the years and I think I've matured as a player. I just want to be the most complete player I can be and help the team win."

The city has been amazing," he said. "It has been a warm reception. I feel welcome and wanted here. When that happens, you want to work as hard as you can."

This kid can be big for us if he keeps his nose clean and busts his ass for us every game. We already know he isn't afraid to do the dirty work and get into some scraps...those things are what can make a player become beloved in Chicago.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he can add here. Hopefully it's something.

That said, I never understood the hate for the guy when he was on the Flyers or any other team. He's not some great goal scorer and he's not really a scary tough guy... he always seemed like a pretty ineffective tough guy/pest to me.

I love how quickly he has embraced the Hawks and knows our rivals and is going to make sure he sticks up for us against them.

Daniel Carcillo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Take it with a grain of salt because it's wikipedia^^^

He's your scrappy, tough guy, enforcer type. He's the classic player who players hate to play against and love to have as a teammate. He has also shown the ability to score as well

He does the blue collar work on the ice and will fight to stick up for our star players. However, as you can see from his quotes above he has let his fiesty/angry behavior on the ice get the best of him which in turn, causes his team to be short-handed when he ends up in the penalty box at an inopportune time.

He has the right ingredients to be a fan-favorite in Chicago. Now all he has to do is use those ingredients in the right ways.

Car bomb is a big hit with his teammates...especially Biebs and Enrique:

Daniel Carcillo a big hit with Blackhawks mates - Chicago Sun-Times

(Hossa and Kaner call Carcillo "Luigi" and Carcillo calls them "Enrique" and "Biebs".)

The Trib also had a nice article about how Carcillo is playing up to his potential so far:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/ct-spt-1022-blackhawks-chicago--20111022,0,2659137.story

I'm really starting to like this guy alot....and I was originally pissed when I found out th Hawks signed him.
