My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
I have read a few of the cap-nicks saying you can't cut DT because he has a bigger cap hit if he is cut than if he is on the team.$8.925M vs $5.719M.

I would argue that taking the extra $3.26 M hit this season frees up $6.5M next season when the Bears very well could be looking to add players or extend some key parts.

Time to rip off the band-aids that are Paces shit contracts.

Do it.

With how Poles talked at the presser, I think he realizes that this team isn't going to compete next season. Limited draft capital and a bad cap situation. It's doubtful the Bears are players in FA. He's got to look at shedding some of Pace's contracts this season.

You could just not cut him, not spend the 3.26 M this year, and then roll it into next year............

In a 4-3 mike role? I’d trust an ancient Egyptian mummy, an ancient pharaoh, over this old injury prone slowed down hack . Time to cut ties. Oldest roster in the nfl. Bengals are youngest and in the Super Bowl. Just google nfl oldest roster and hit images.

I would rather cut him and have $6.5 M available the next season than have him and and $3.26M. It's Jimmy Graham this season all over again.

Case to cut Trevathan: He's aging. Cant stay healthy. The Bears save a few bucks in the process. His contract was the worst of the Pace regime.

I’m sold without reading op lol

i wouldn’t mind them taking 2022 to clean up the many pace mistakes and get rocking next year. They won’t do that cause they know they can sign a couple guys and get the sucker part of the fan base believe in the team.

I think the chances of cutting him are slim. But starting him, or letting him see significant playing time? That’s another story…

Rodgers is as good as gone. The North is a fucking warzone now. It's up for grabs.

Bears might suck, but they arent that far away from the packers. Thats the value of an MVP level QB in this league...

That was not really the issue at all. People were saying to cut DT thinking it would free up cap space THIS YEAR.

The argument for not cutting him is 3.26m when you only have 28m in cap space this year is more useful than 6.5m next year when you already expected to have 92m in cap space. And it could easily become 110 million if you move on from some high priced guys.

That 3.26 million this year could be the difference between signing 1 good OL vs 2 good OL given how tight we are relative to how many people we have to sign.

The case?

one of the inexplicable contracts that rightfully doomed Mr. Pacey.

I hear the guard from Iowa wants 10,000,000 and I hope the new guy knows what to tell him.

Well no, in my scenario you would cut him next year.
Keep him this year for a rotational piece. The only reason you would do it this year is to free up a roster spot. Or, as others have mentioned, post 6/1 to free up cap space this year.
