regardless, either get Fielder, or spread the wealth to the point where a big FA NEXT off-season could make us a playoff contender.

That was in 2005, 6 years ago. And they still aren't even close to as valuable to the league as the :cubs: are. So yes, the :whitesox: would be contracted before the :cubs: would.

Contraction is based on a franchise not drawing in fans to games more than it is about how good the team is on-the-field (and the Sox suck too).

Fortunately, there are plenty of teams that would go before either of them would.
