I'd expect no less. Political mud flinging is as much an American tradition as apple pie, rock n roll, and baseball.

It's just with last year's Supreme Court Decision, Citizens United v. F.E.C., allowing unlimited contributions from corporations, unions, etc. (super pacs) they expect twice as much money to be spent on adds, then in previous years, with the additional money being used almost exclusively on negative advertising.

Can someone explain to me in layman's terms how Super PACs came to be? I thought I read where the Supreme Court approved the launguage or whatever, but I just can't think of a legitimate reason why they should exist and was wondering if anyone know how they came about and who pushed for them, specifically why they are so hard to get rid of. (other than the obvious "they are funneling millions into pockets so why would they")

The most negative Presidential Election was the 1824 Election. I doubt this one will be close to that bad.
