For me personally, I would like to see the Blackhawks go the free agency route.

I don't think Emery is here past next year and I suppose there is an outside chance that Crawford gets traded, which would most likely see a goalie come back as well.

Vokoun would be my number one target. He is clearly looking to win (look at his contract) and was also willing to take a 1 year deal.

After Vokoun I'm a fan of Mason, but that would be more of a tandem with Crawford.

Should be interesting.

Vokoun would be ok, upgrade over what we have now, but the defense will have to play much better in front of any goalie we have. crawfords stock is low, so moving him will be a challenge. I just hope the hawks dont think emery is the guy because of his recent play.

ha, definitely a hot topic. Especially considering this is the Blackhawks 4th year or so going through this.

Just hoping the Blackhawks don't go the Flyers route and drop a boat load on a goalie. Bryz is playing better, but that much money on a goalie can be a disaster (as all Hawks fans have seen first hand).

It is just a normal season that we are all used to....the rotating goalie and lack of a number 1. Im used to it.

They just can go for that "stud" goalie like bryz, that would be a mistake. an above avg dependable goalie is what I want, not an allstar.

crawford looks like a giant huet being all over the place in the crease not knowing where he is, emery is playing well, but he is what he is....a back up.

I want the money for next year to go to a 2nd line center.

^^^ Interesting thought...

Upgrade on goalie and Kruger/Kane at 2C next year or upgrade at 2C and go with Crawford/Back up? Even though, with the cap space both could be attainable.

what im actually really worried about more than anything is Toews. Without him we are just a team that could make the playoffs.

Personally, I'd stay away from RFA's for two reasons.

1. You overpay for the player and that team let's them walk. This just means that you have more cap space tied up in a player than you should and you have to pay with more draft picks than you should.

2. You sign the player to a cap friendly deal, basically doing the other team a favor so they can match.

The only time I have seen it work effectively was with Vanek...because that wasn't a cap friendly deal and screwed the Sabres a little.

I think the best bet for an up and comer would be Bernier, just because he is atleast outside of the division. Bernier is also more of a reactionary goalie (compared to a shot blocker of sorts), which for some reason seems to suit the Blackhawks better - could just be by coincidence though.

Edit: I know I said "outside of the division" but I can't just see the Canucks letting have Schneider without having to overpay big time. The Canucks definitely aren't sold on Luongo while the Kings certainly are on Quick. Hell, I'm with ya though...I'd take a look at all of them depending on the situation.

Depending on how Emery flies the rest of this season, hope that Boston doesn't want to flip one of their tenders to the East and the Hawks aren't outbid by Columbus, Edmonton, or San Jose.

Schneider or Vokoun are my top picks. I'd also like to see them get another defenseman and maybe get rid of some of the excess. The six defensemen I'd like to see playing most of the games are Keith, Seabrook, Leddy, Hammer, Monty, and a new guy.

Keeping Lepisto might be alright for 7th D.

you wont get them. Especially Schneider. you would have to move crawford and his salary plus have one of those teams not match. wont happen. We need to start thinking realistically, this isnt fantasy sports. Im not on board with Vokoun but he probably serves us better than the 2 idiots we have now even though he is old as ****.

I'd really love for the Hawks to get a young guy that can play. Not keep signing old guys every year. Turco, Emery, etc.

the washed up goalies are annoying.

It frustrates me that the Hawks can't find a goalie because everything else about this team sets them up to win the cup multiple times in the next 10 years before most of the core retires.

The young guys plus the awesome core means that this should be a pretty dang good hockey team, but the goaltending is average.

average at best. you can win with avg, but these 2 fucks arent avg. They are both back up goalies.
