Plenty of people want Nagy gone which is understandable, but know this ever since Iron Mike left it has basically been a freaking coaching carousal, Wannstedt, Jauron, Lovie, Trestman, etc. etc. nothing is going to change until the McCaskey's show they can get the right personnel to get this team winning on a consistent basis. In other words I'm not going to be jumping for joy when or if Nagy gets fired, because I've seen this song and dance far too many times.

Wannstedt: Super Bowl winning DC; first timer; couldn't function without Jimmy Johnson (Jimmy Johnson couldn't function without him); couldn't get legit offensive coordinator; catastrophic failure
Jauron: defensive dork; first timer; moderate improvement over Wannstedt; lucked into playoff run/one and done; couldn't get legit offensive coordinator; inevitably catastrophic failure
Lovie Smith: defensive dork; Super Bowl losing DC (first of Brady/Belichick's victims); first timer; significant improvement over Wannstedt/Jauron; lost all semblance of traction with departure of Ron Rivera; caught lightning in bottle with Marinelli; couldn't get legit offensive coordinator; moderate failure
Trestman: Grey Cup winning head coach; first timer; has moderate success running offenses until they're inevitably figured out; drew worst defensive coordinator in Bears history; pussified entire team culture/led to mutiny; catastrophic next level failure jettisoned by team after 2 seasons (never happened throughout recorded history)
Fox: rare instance of coaching hire with past experience, with added benefit of taking 2 teams to Super Bowls; brought in to fix pussified team culture; obviously would've rather been retired; had moderate success at OC position with Gase/Loggains (arguable, but major improvement since Martz; Gase had delusions of grandeur at prospect of becoming head coach and left after 1 season); was seemingly let go for an upgrade at the role
Nagy: rooted in Reid coaching tree; first timer; had great success at defensive coordinator with Vic Fangio for 1 season (like Gase, had delusions of grandeur at prospect of becoming head coach and left); has effectively progressively downgraded Bears offensive rankings with each passing season; should be fired immediately

or in other words, the Bears organization hired a bunch of noobs at head coach with no proven experience at doing so in every instance except Fox, because they at least recognized how fucked up everything was after Trestman. they were each biased in offensive/defensive philosophies and were weak on the other end with exception of Nagy/Fangio (which there the defense was better than the offense, what Nagy was brought in to revolutionize). it's both a combination of gambles by the brass that they could find the next Ditka and a lot of bad luck I would say. that encapsulates 30 years of fail by the Chicago Bears.

This organization is like like living though “Groundhog Day” forever. Every fucking year, with an occasional success, ends with “this guy needs to be fired, they need to hire this guy“, and the NEVER ending quest for a QB. Over and over and over and over again.
do we honestly think they’ll ever get it right?

I liked Jauron he just had the personality of a pineapple.

that was so long ago I don't even remember what it was like anymore. he liked having gigantic men on the lines, so did Wannstedt. Wannstedt I guess was just way in over his head, and he had GM control. made some pretty idiotic picks. I think they both had kind of the right idea, they just weren't able to execute it right.

just a dark period. 1998 was particularly awful cause the Bulls turned to shit too.

You're correct, the grass is not always greener on the other side, it's just a different shade of green. Our current shade of green is kind of a pukey color and stinks, therefore, I say on to different pastures.

Where would this team be if we had Trestman as head coach/offensive coordinator and Fangio as the DC

Even when we get guys who bring some measure of success, we don't keep them. Look how we drive away our best wide receivers too. We're about to let another one walk.

8-8 the last 2 seasons looks way better than they actually are imo. The Bears under Matt Nagy are Kirk Cousins. Bumslayers.

Look at the teams we beat the last 2 seasons...

2019
Broncos
Redskins
Vikings
Lions
Giants
Lions
Cowboys
Vikings

2020
Lions
Giants
Falcons
Buccaneers
Panthers
Texans
Vikings
Jaguars

We beat 1 decent team. Tom Brady's team scored 19 points. You could argue that Minnesota was a decent team in 2019. But guess what? They were bumslayers, just like their QB and just like the Bears. They beat 1 decent team, too. New Orleans in the playoffs.

So 8-8 with a playoff game this season doesn't look as bad as some terrible seasons we've had. But it's fucking bad. If you watched this team the last 2 seasons, 16-16 doesn't do this team any justice to just how bad they really are. Bumslayers.

If this isn't the definition of giving up?

Nagy must go. Period. He's proven far too many times to be incompetent and without any accountability.
I hate change for the sake of change, but when the status quo sucks, change is necessary.

We can all agree in not trusting the McCaskeys to make a good hire however. In such a team sport it is possible to have lots of things right, but one broken cog screws up the entire machine. Nagy is clearly a broken cog. Surely others, but there's some talent on this roster. Hope it's not wasted any longer on this shit offense due to arrogance and ignorance.

Trestman as head coach when teammates argue ...

The grass will never be greener on the other side as long as Philips is in charge of the football side of things. He should go back to counting beans and McCaskey's should replace Philips with 'Jim Finks' type person.

As a fan I think I'd rather watch this team struggle with good coaches and poor talent than see talent wasted by bad coaching. Not that the Bears have all that much talent either but seeing players utilized ineffectively play after play, game after game, year after year is getting old. Which now that I think about it so am I.

What's really nuts is seeing the front office acknowledge they are bad at football by hiring a consultant in order to find a GM who can find a coach and seeing it all turn to shit anyway.

I guess you just have to count your blessings. In my lifetime I've gotten to experience the '85 Bears, the Bulls dynasty and the Blackhawks near-dynasty, and the '16 Cubs. I may live long enough to see the Bears catch lightning in a bottle or I may not. The trick is letting go of thinking there's anything I can do about it.

Giving up?. I've followed this team for the past 25 years and in that span they've had 7 or 8 winning seasons, even the most loyal Bears fan will find it hard to look at the future with any optimism as long as ownership consistently fails to put someone in place that can put a consistent winner on the field. Yes change may be necessary but damn try to get it right this time!
