I cant watch it. But is it Bilbo Baggans or something new? Cause there was talk of them doing A Hobbits Tale after LoTR trilogy. I had hoped if they did, they'd bring everyone back to reprise the vital roles.

Yes, the story from The Hobbit book with Bilbo, Gandalf and the Dwarves. Elijah Wood is back for his role as Frodo and Ian Holm will be back to be Old Bilbo during the opening scenes. Ian McKellan of course will be back as Gandalf. Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Hugo Weaving as Elrond and for some reason Orlando Bloom as Legolas (wasn't in the book). And nobody can replace Andy Serkis as Gollum. His voice acting and motion capture acting is irreplaceable.

Wonder if these will be Academy Award worthy like the LotR trilogy?

So its a completely fabricated story? A Hobbits Tale and LoTR Trilogy is the only ones I know of. If it is A Hobbits Tale, then they fucked it up completely. However, of course Andys back. The man is synonymous with the field. His work in Rise of the Planet of the Apes is quite obvious hes the best.

It's not fabricated.... have you not read The Hobbit? Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin and the Dwarves, Smaug, Beorn, Bard, etc, etc, etc?

The added Frodo and old Bilbo so they could have a prologue, and we don't really know that Legolas WASN'T in The Hobbit book. He just wasn't mentioned by name, but he's from Mirkwood and his dad is Thranduil, so he was more than likely present in the book, just not mentioned.

I will watch this multiple times in theater just like I did the LOTR trilogy, but I am that guy that owns not only copies of the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings, but the Simarillion and the various crap Christopher Tolkein has churned out of his dad's unfinished works or early drafts of things.

I can't wait to see how they depict Smaug and the Battle of Five Armies...again nerd.
