Chicago has to be on it, I don't care what a list says. 430+ homiicides this year, passing last year's total with 2 months to go.

That's not the only measure. And hell, I've never felt uncomfortable in any of the places I've gone/hung out in Chicago, which is more than I can say for some other places I've lived and visited. As long as you avoid a few areas around Chicago there's really no major issue.

I've to St. Louis many times and felt the city was fine. Never saw anything happen and never felt uncomfortable. Also, I've been to Rockford and never saw anything nad. I never even hear anything about Rockford on the news and I'm about a 1.5 hours away from Rockford. So, I'm pretty sure I would.

Rockford is kind of a shit hole outside of the immediate downtown area. Hell, I went to NIU to I was only 30 miles or less away and I never heard anything on the news either, no one reports anything that happens there other than in the local papers/radio. Just that rape stat is reason enough to wonder what the **** is going on around there (almost 3x the national average).

That and it's the type of crimes that you hear about in certain places that makes me wonder from time to time (random violence as opposed to gang-associated for instance). The first winter I spent in Buffalo (15 on the list...lol) I heard about some lesbian chick getting stabbed in the eye by a teenage girl (who didn't know her) while coming out of a bar on new years eve...I mean, what the ****? Who does shit like that? You never hear about things that random in most places.

I am kind of surprised Philly is on there though. Outside of a few areas (the one around Temple U is pretty terrible [did an interview there when deciding on a grad school]) most of Philly is really decent.

Cherry Hill area is the only part of Rockford that I visit. Ever since the Belvidere plant stabilized, the crime also stabilized a bit.

I never thought the place was bad. Rockford just has some really rough spots.

East St. Louis is terrible. When I lived in Kansas City, I never felt there were any "terrible spots." Most of the areas there were a lot more upscale and trendy.
