Does anyone know the real story on what happened to this guy? I mean everyone who was even remotely affliated with the Chicago Blackhawks was on a bus in that parade. No Kim Johnsson. Did anyone ever pinpoint when his infamous "concussion" happened? Was he really hurt? Was he simply a token player to smooth the egos of the Hawk front office in letting a high draft pick get away in salary cap hell? I mean this guy virtually walked off the map...never to be heard of again. I'd like to know the real story.

I think the story was hat Johnsson promptly banged an established player's wife upon his arrival in Chicago. That's the gossip, anyway.

As I understand it Mr Johnsson has a history of concussions, and that those sort of injuries can snowball. It is the same reason that other players, including Michel Goulet during his stint on the Hawks have retired. As I remember the Goulet situation I think he had been told that he could play and all that, but that one more concussion and he may not have been able to walk again, if he managed to survive.

Or something like that -the deal is basically not my memory of Michel Goulet's story so much as it is that I get the idea that multiple concussions are a bad deal.

I don't buy the gossip stuff one bit - I mean, seriously ... it takes two to tango -and frankly if someone were that easy -I imagine it would have been all over the place (with who knows how many 'participants' long before some journeyman defenseman showed up). I mean, seriously -- this guy Johnsson isn't Wayne Gretzky, Sid Crosby, or anyone making a lot more money that KJ or anything -- so I mean -does anyone actually do that? And if they do ... how does this guy be the guy that it comes out with???

I don't think it does... sounds like bullshit.

Leddy was the real pickup here.

I was about to post the same thing. We did unload Barker for cap space but we did not give him away, in 2 years our return should payoff in Nick Leddy. Barker also never did live up to expectations.

Concussions are a scary thing, expecially multiple ones. Even if that was the case, I doubt we'll ever know for sure. The NHL doesn't fully disclose injuries like othe rleagues do.

Leddy isn't guaranteed to be anything.

Nick Leddy is one of our best prospects in our system. He is just not talked about as much because he is at least 2 years away from playing in the NHL. He is not physically mature enough and is still learning to play a more solid game is his own end. He is an amazing skater and very crafty with the puck and has great vision and play making ability from the blue line. No player is guaranteed to be anything (Patrick Stefan, Alexandre Daigle, Pat Falloon) but I bet would most scouts would agree that Leddy will be an NHL regular in a few years. Also he is working hard at it because after he was drafted out of high school he added 15 pounds to his frame and has noted to possibly becoming a good two way defensemen.

Hmmm, lots of theories but no concrete answers. Couple of them are pretty lame...he met and banged a Hawk player's wife? Was he even around long enough to meet someone's wife and get her into bed? That's REAL quick work...if a Hawk gets a divorce in the near future, I'll buy into it, until then... NO.

Ok, most of us are not big Barker fans. Not as good as advertised is how I'd rate him....we can see it. But obviously Minnesota cannot as they regard him as a great investment where they're willing to pay him big money plus give up Johnsson and some kid that Severz believes is Bobby Orr reincarnated in a trade. He may be, Ive never seen him play but sorry....Im not buying that either.

This is damn strange. I don't think we'll know the answer till someone else signs him and he becomes free to speak up. I think he's keeping his mouth shut to avoid controversy and be more signable by another team.
