Who do you foresee taking advantage of the available all-important PK spots? Sopel's vacancy is the spot which has me most concerned. Assuming these guys aren't the guilty offenders and have the gas to be out there:

Toews/Hossa; Bollie/Sharp(?)
Seabs/Keith; Hjalmarsson/Boynton(?)

I put question marks next to the two obvious openings.

I think Brian Campbell would easily fit in with either Bolland or Hammer.

Don't be shocked to see Jake Dowell get some time on the PK. I also think that Hendry could get more of a look than Boynton. He's younger and has a history of Killing penalties with Hammer. Not gimmies on either one of those guys but they are real possible answers to your question.

If he makes the team...Makarov could be on the PK unit. He's supposed to be a pretty good defensive player. But like any Russian, it's hard to know for sure until he's actually over here playing.

Also it wouldn't surprise me at all if Soupy got some PK time. If he can continue the solid defensive play that he suddenly showed in these past playoffs, then he would do great IMO.

I wouldnt mind Brouwer either for a forward.

On Defense, Boynton, Hendry would both do a solid job

Well it isn't like there's just 2 PK forwarding lines. They are the main sets but Sharpe and either Brouwer/Versteeg were usually the 3rd forward pairing to role change out there. So either of those 2 still on the team will likely pair with Bolly.

The real question is who will be the 4th D-man and I can see it rotating around for a bit depending on who is doing well out there. I wouldn't be trusting Campbell out there in the regular season on a every game basis.

I agree, the 4th D-Man will be a rotation.

Boynton, Hendry, Campbell

I don't think people hate Sopes. He was just making too much money.

There were people still bitter and not fans of Sopel because of his play in 07-08 not being very good overall.

whatever the excuse for not liking him, he did exactly what he needed to do....block shots, PK, and just be that veteran leadership on our 3rd line
