That and DirecTV and other cable packages and MLB Network and a host of other things. Plus WGN themselves being cheap.

Cubs network is coming. And that should mean huge increase in payroll down the road.

I'd be all for a CUBS network that showed all the minor league games either live (on non-Cubs game days) or on tape delay. That would be spectacular.

It is ridiculous how little WGN pays for Cubs games. The Paders made more money in their TV deal than the Cubs did. I used to not mind it so much when they were all owned by the same company and it was just a corporate shell game with profits, but now given the explosion in TV deals it is sad how little the Cubs make in terms of the other teams.

I'm looking at YES (Yankees) and NESN (Red Sox) being solid regional networks and don't see why Chicago couldn't support a Cubs-based network with this kind of fan base, especially if said network could become available to out-of-market consumers across the nation.

When you said "Brett wrote this" I almost left this thread, but then I realized you meant Brett from BN :shifty:

I'm all for Cubs Network, it'll be fine without WGN, it really is just a channel to watch games on, no better or worse than CSN except we don't get paid much by WGN and we own 20-25% of CSN

Meh, doesn't really matter at this point, considering they get less and less games each year.

I wouldn't mind a Cubs network. It would kinda suck not having so many Cubs games on a channel I already get but these days there's always ways to watch the game. I understand the Cubs need to maximize TV revenue when far less popular teams are already earning more than them.

It'll be sad to see no more Cubs games on WGN because I, as well as many others, grew up watching them there. Money is the ultimate deciding factor in the end and if a Cubs network will help them get to where we all want them to be, then I can't be against it.
