This video breaks down the reasoning for the draft day trade as well as I've seen or heard.

Can someone summarize

Admittedly, stuff we've heard here but it's easier to digest in video format.

- Pace fell in love with Trubisky early on and considering Trubisky's resume at NC...no one's sure why.
- They go over some media draft grades...ESPN and PFF had him #2. Sports Illustrated had him at #4.
- The narrative is, there wasn't much interest in Trubisky at the top of the draft; there was no reason to trade up all those picks to move ONE spot. Didn't have to happen. Pace played himself.
- They mention some dinner date with Bears brass and Trubisky at Chapel Hill, and how Pace was impressed by the young man's humble demeanor, and how he walked him to his car and was surprised he had a older Toyota Camry - nothing flashy.
- I guess Pace also though that Trubisky was humble and loyal because he never tried to transfer to another school when Marquis Williams was the starter.

yeah... we dont need another long thread about this.. so i'l just state this short comment.. ive heard very convincing arguments otherwise about Trubisky not being there at 3 as well. So I do not agree 100% that Pace played himself. All I am saying is that I have heard breakdowns of other teams calls/ interest/ etc. to fell like its not a slam dunk that Pace was foolish. but.. we dont need another long tread about this topic that has been discussed quite a bit already.

interesting, I would want an alpha type who WOULD transfer so he could play

I am equally pissed about him picking Trubisky as I am about him rolling out sub standard offensive personnel once we knew he was not elite.

Well, yeah. But if someone "stole" Trubisky we'd be sitting here with Watson...lol.

An interesting discussion would be who does pace draft if Mitch was taken? Does he still go QB?
I was on the Jamal Adams train...Mahomes was my QB though. If bears didn’t get Adams I wanted them to trade down outside of the top 10 for him.

Just to make sure everyone knows I’m a fucking qb evaluating genius and liked Mahomes of the 3.
(But I also like Brad Kayaa....)

Why couldn't the Browns just be the Browns and draft Trubisky #1?

So, as a sports fan, let me say what I saw on the outside. I watched Trubs in college for 3 games. One of them being his bowl game, he had moments of brilliance. Strong arm. Good touch. Then, everything else. Reads were off. Indecisive on what he wanted to do and missed wide open receivers. Why I was confused on being such a high draft pick? Exactly what I said, he was the same in every game I watched him play. Physical gift is there. Physical brain is not. He does the exact same things 4 years later with pro coaches on him constantly. Trubs problem is not his skills. Its his brain. I dont see growth there which should worry yall. Just a sports fan two cents.

What I have the biggest problem with is the whole process.

You are a gm with the #3 pick, trying to pick the most important position in the sport. You were so set on one guy, who didn't do much in college. You picked him, and ignored Deshaun Watson practically. It would not change the fact that he didn't pick Deshaun, but to be so uninterested from the start and putting all your eggs in one basket with such a high pick and such an important position is mind boggling.

I thought he deserved another chance to pick a QB. But after hearing about the draft process and how actually un-interested he was with Deshaun, his weird Mitch/Drew Brees comparison, funny cause they are almost complete opposites physically and what their skill sets are.

He deserved another chance to pick a QB, but the way he went about drafting and how he was so focused on one guy is bad. That's just not what GM should ever do, they should look at all options.

It adds to the theory he likes to be looked at as the smartest guy in the room, than picking the safer probably better option.

Fox was sent to watch Watson as a smoke screen but was aware of the subterfuge. He was at the 'McMahon' dinner so not kept in the dark. Mitch was also at the top of most boards and was considered with the #1 by Cleveland. That vid is the same sort of shit we see on this board all the time. Bad choice? Sure. Need to trade up? Probably not but if Bears stay put, do teams calling the Bear talk to the 49ers? They were looking to move. Thing is, this is simply injustice collecting weenie stuff. Get over it and look for or discuss solutions.

In the mod forum planning your ban
Considered #1 by Cleveland should have been a red flag
