Last year it took Seabrook halfway through the year to re-sign, so this might be premature but who knows. I think it's pretty obvious that both sides want to get done, despite the BS rumors out there about Sharp becoming a UFA and leaving (yeah right!) so how much and how long?

I think if you look at something between Hossa and Toews/Kane's deals that would be right up Sharps alley. In fact, I'd probably give him a contract nearly identical to Seabrooks.

5 years, $5.4-$5.8M

I think they'll get it done around the holidays. Just like you pointed out I think they did Seabs and the Kieth/Toews/Kane deals all around the holidays. He's at a weird age. not old enough to ride him out on one of those long term cap contracts, but still young enough to get a good long contract out of him. Honestly, with his skills, versatility and leadership, I wouldn't mind if they did something along the lines of Keith, finish him off as a hawk, baring trades of course. Obviously it wouldn't have to be that many years, but you sign him to 11 and he's done in 8, well you get some serious cap savings.

It is very much possible that it is close to being done, and just might be announced during a very opportune make a splash time. Remember that TKK we all signed a bit before the actual annoucement.

Honestly I am not worried in the least.

I think your numbers are good Ton. Probably between 5.5-6 for 5/6 years. Well worth it.

Not sure why Sharp would want to leave the team or the city. Unless he wants to head out to Florida with the rest of the gang for some sun and Tallon fun.

I posted this the other day, to what I think Sharp will get...

I think Sharp will handle based on if he wants to stay here, as well as being fair.

I don't think he's going to be asking for 6.5-7mil if he re-signs with the Hawks (nor do I think he's worth that)..but may easily get that if he hits the open market.

Some interesting stats on where Sharp is on the Hawks..

Since Toews/Kane era -

Sharp - 297gms - 121g - 122a - 243pts - +52 - 34ppg - 21gwg

Toews - 302gms - 115g - 152a - 257pts - +70 - 38ppg - 22gwg

Kane - 317gms - 103a - 200a - 303pts - +16 - 34ppg - 16gwg

17% of Sharp's goals were gwg

19% of Toew's goals were gwg

16% of Kane's goals were gwg

In his 2 years here -

Hossa - 122gms - 49g - 59a - 108pts - +33 10ppg - 4gwg

Per Gm Avg -

Sharp - .41 gpg

Hossa - .40 gpg

Toews - .38 gpg

Kane - .32 gpg

-------------------------------

Kane - .96ppg

Hossa - .89ppg

Toews - .85ppg

Sharp - .82ppg

I think Sharp should fit somewhere between Hossa's cap hit and the Toews/Kane hit...in the Blackhawks pay structure...maybe similar to Seabrooks 5yr-29mil (5.8mil cap hit)...break it down the same way as Brents...7,7,5,5,5. That'll take him to his 34th Bday...give him one more contract after that.

If you spent as much time washing yourself and brushing your teeth as you do with numbers you wouldn't smell like a boys highschool change room.

I don't see him getting less than $6M per. I'm thinking 5 year deal at $30M. But we'll see. If we sign him for less that would be great too!

sign and trade his over achiving ass! Sharp for Stamkos. JK.

I don't think it will be 6mil and up. I say 5.75 for 5 years.

I have placed a picture of Sharp for you that don't know who his is.

Really funny how far this guy has come from when I made this user name on the O-boards facetiously years ago. Within a season it turned out that he did in fact rule and now I look like some creep ass fanboy. But there's no way I'm changing my name after all this time. Unless he's injured again which will then go back to PatrickSharpIsInjured.

Sharp is a prime example of a late bloomer and someone that stepped up when given the chance. He was what 25-26 when he had his first 30+ goal season? Not to mention being a very versatile player.
