The Bears keep 7 in to protect against a 4 man rush, with Kmet and Lewis double-teaming Latu.
Strip Sack 1.PNG

It starts off fine, with Kmet and Everett engaging Latu nicely.
Strip Sack 2.PNG
Then Lewis sees some sort of ghost delayed blitz from a linebacker and inexplicably peels off the block, looking to get one of the linebackers, but they're both dropping into coverage.
Strip Sack 3.PNG
Latu, being an excellent pass rusher, overwhelms Kmet one-on-one, and quickly wins a run at CW's blindside. Lewis watches in confusion, blocking no one.
Strip Sack 4.PNG
Lewis does manage to get a great view of Latu stripping the ball from his quarterback.

My big takeaway here is that there is absolutely zero blame on CW for this. He can see that the Colts are only rushing 4, and he knows he has 7 guys in to block them. There is no way he could possibly expect pressure from his blindside that quickly when they have 7 in to block 4.

I don't blame Kmet, either. Asking a TE to block Latu one-on-one is unrealistic, especially when the TE was expecting help.

EDIT: I originally thought it was Everett, not Lewis. Post has been corrected.

It was Lewis, who needs to be cut. Kmet was pushing him inside because he thought Lewis was going to help block. Lewis then pushes Latu into a better position thus negating Kmet’s momentum. What a clusterfuck.

I didn't see that angle, and Lewis looks even worse. He literally gives Latu a helpful nudge to get around the edge, then proceeds to get confused and block no one.

Hmm…apparently 40 year old TE’s aren’t very good

Who could have guessed that?!

This fucking organization(its an insult to the word to use it here), man

Lewis has had a fine career. But he’s been awful this season and just needs to retire or be cut.

The thing I notice about Caleb is he likes the home run...so it looked to me like he is waiting Odunze to turn

I get it he probably didn't feel the pressure but he could have stepped up into the pocket and he had swift on a short dunk pass wide open.

He said in his presser that he felt him but didn't move up more than a half step or something like that...

So you have four OLs blocking two DTs, and CW is still setting up 8 yards behind the LOS....zero blame? CW is like someone playing Madden, except it doesn't work in real life.

I think thats more on Waldron's play calling. Barely any short routes to begin with. Its just awful that they can't see Caleb can't make those long throws at the moment due to all the pressure from the line and his foot work is really bad at this.

Ummmm did you watch the play. It was play action... that's why he was so deep. Wow.
Its called stepping up in the pocket. Which you would probably want to do on PA when your run game is averaging about 1 yard per carry. CW has no pocket presence. As you can see from the replay, he doesn't even roll away from the fake...he is still setting up 8 yards deep.

Caleb should have stepped up. Kmet shouldnt have been blocking a DE.

IF this is fields people would cry about him not stepping up

He did in college, he's just looked bad on the bears since getting his brane beat in week 1.

But yea, saying there is no blame on caleb is laughable. He held the ball and didnt step up. He knew that the edge was going against a TE because of our shitty OC.

That was the exact drop CW was supposed to take after the play action fake you dummy.

Still should step up.

Not a big deal anyways, I doubt they win this game even if he doesnt fumble there with how bad the offense was

There are short passes caleb just passes them up for downfield hits.

But then again, with no run game what the **** are 3-4 yard passes gonna do? We tried that last two weeks

Not sure how you know that, but whatever. I assume he's supposed to roll away from the fake and then be closer to Herbert for the check down, but what do I know?

I get that but the point for the short passing it to at least limit the pressure on our wonderful OLine and Caleb from being blitzed on every single play. They did some with Kmet late in the game so I hope it continues.

He did step up in the pocket. He's at the 12 yard line at the end of his drop.
Strip Sack 6.PNG
And he's at the 9 yard line when he gets stripped. He stepped up 3 yards.
Strip Sack 7.PNG
And on top of that he had no reason to feel pressure that quickly because he knew had had 7 guys blocking 4. Please stop posting idiocy in my thread.

I'm sure when he starts to improve (like he already has) you'll come back and say you were always on board. Your schtick is see through
