It started with Kennedy's district and is now following suit in Murtha's, Specter's and other districts. For those who thought the people would not be heard or easily forget I think you are witnessing something that has been a long time coming.

(CNN) -- Voters sent mixed signals in Tuesday's primary elections in Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Arkansas. They tossed out a veteran senator, nominated a Tea Party-backed candidate and also chose a longtime aide to fill the U.S. House seat vacated by the death of Democratic Rep. John Murtha.

In another closely watched race, Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln failed to win more than 50 percent of the vote and faces a June 8 runoff in the Arkansas Senate primary to decide the party's candidate in November.

The results reinforced the perception of anger across the country against Washington politics-as-usual, but also showed the public discontent may be aimed at both Democrats and Republicans.

In Pennsylvania, voters rejected longtime incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter's bid to run for a sixth Senate term, choosing Rep. Joe Sestak as the Democratic nominee for Senate in November.

This is a great start! November is going to be fun.

It is a little troubling that voter turn-out was so low from what I understand.

I like that Rand Paul won the primary. I am assuming his politics are close to his father's and after reading some of his books I am a big fan of Ron Paul. So go Rand.

Does not trouble me at all. In fact, I like that. It shows me that the base that wants

everything for nothing in return is not smart enough to realize what primaries are all

about. On the other hand, those that are frustrated are showing up AND voting with

intelligence.

Actually, in Pennsylvania, Democrat Mark Critz winning John Murtha's seat by more than 9% (53.4 to 44.3), with the district's history of having many Reagan Democrats, was a disappointment for both Tea Party activists and mainstream Republicans.

Specters' defeat also wasn't that surprising, given that he's been a Republican for more than 45 years and a Republican US senator for 30+ years. The Democratic base wasn't fooled by his party change and this Joe Sestak ad was very effective in defining Specter. Admittedly, in addition to showing Specter's flip-flopping, it also exposes Specter as a career politician, not a plus in the current political climate, but IMHO, he was doomed regardless.

It is not about party for me. It is about getting rid of the career politicians.

I am conservative but have never been registered as Republican or Democrat.

I am all about getting rid of the trash in D.C. that no longer represents the people

but rather themselves (Specter is the icon of such). Pelosi, Reid are the next two targets.

While I see Reid as being gone there is not a chance to unseat Pelosi however if the

House becomes Republican held it will force her out as Speaker.

There need to be balance in D.C. as well. No single party should have complete control.

I understood that Obama has been backing Specter.

On WLS this morning, Mark Kirk said the last 7 that Obama has backed, all lost.

If Obama threw Specter under the bus, what chance would there be of another Republican leaving their party and joining the Democrats? I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot, the Republican party would endorse a Democrat who became a Republican in their primary vs. a party "upstart."

The leaders of both partys backed candidates that lost last night. Specter for the Dems, Jack Conway for the Repubs.

Why would any Democrat want Obama's blessing?

During Specter's early political career he was a Democrat. In 1965 (age of 35) he registered as a Republican in order to run for DA in PA.

He opposes abortion and is pro gun rights. Votes with the Dems otherwise.

Pro-immigration amnesty

Pro LGBT rights

Pro affirmative action

Pro Obama health care reform

Pro Card-check

IMO he is a typical god fearing, gun loving southern democrat.
