Chicago,IL- During the off season the Bears signed Running Back Chester Taylor from division rival Minnesota Vikings. No one knew the exact usage of Taylor but we think Coach Lovie Smith answered that today when he was asked who would start at Running Back this Sunday vs the Detroit Lions.
"(Matt) Forte will start the game off for us but expect to see him play a lot of receiver also. We feel he has the best hands out of the Running Backs so we want to utilize him in special packages to give the opposing defense a different look. When Forte is not in the backfield it will be (Chester) Taylor's load to haul."
To me it sounds like Taylor will be getting most of the carries since Forte is going to play some different positions. I am interested to see how they come out in these new "packages" Coach Smith mentioned. I doubt either RB will get 1,000 rushing yards but both of them could see 1,000 total yards. We are expecting to see the Bears be pass first even though Cutler had a down year last year. Also speaking of the "New Packages," expect WR Devin Hester to run the Wild Cat in this years offense.
1) Attack the young secondary. Cutler should be able to have a good day against the Lions. Their run defense can be productive but if the Bears mix up the attack then the Lions shouldn't stand a chance.
2) Limit turnovers. Last year Cutler's biggest issue was turnovers. If he can play productively and make good throws it should be an easy game for him. There is no need to force throws, when he can hit the check down Running Back with their good hands.
3) Pressure Stanton. The guy doesn't have a lot of experience and he will probably be scared to death going up against the Bears top ranked defense. Need to make sure he is getting hit so he knows who is boss in The Windy City.
