The Twins being interested in two Cubs executives in no way indicates that those two Cubs executives are interested in the Twins.

No, but they might be. It's an inevitability of success. I'm really not nervous about Theo but I wish they would get it finished and announced sooner rather than later.

Looks like McCloud might be off to Minny. You think Theo is waiting for his crew to be extended first or happy they are advancing?

Win World Series for Cubs , he can ask for the moon

I am pretty sure Theo is going to get the moon regardless of winning the world series. The question is, will Theo "throw the mic down" that he achieved what nobody in over a century could and take some time off. He did make 25 million over the past 5.

McCleod has been a future GM for awhile. I was shocked when he extended with us what 2 years ago? He said he wanted to see this through. So, my guess, Cubs win it. McCleod starts the negotiation process. He is very high up there on team's GM list.

Cubs Den speculated that Minnesota may not be a great fit for McCleod if they don't make some serious dollar commitments but Rehman is another story. He kind of sits in the shadows of the big three and is considered a very talented exec. If the Cubs do win it this year though there will be changes coming.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Every league and industry is a copycat. The Cubs win the WS and teams will hire Cubs staff to bring some of the mojo over to the new club.

Hearing Ricketts may offer Epstein a percentage of ownership of team worth.. Which is in billions

My assumption is Theo either does one of three things with each one being equally possible

- He leaves after a WS because he doesn't see the joy in winning a second one and he goes on and does something different (my guess is he tries to go to a small market team with limited payroll to prove that he could win without a huge budget) or just gets out of baseball entirely. Cubs then promote Jed to VP Baseball Ops and McLeod to GM and Rihman goes to McLeod's old job

- He "leaves" the baseball ops and becomes the president of the entire organization (a role that no one has right now) with everyone once again moving up a step and Crane "reporting" to Theo in name only but Crane has said he wants to leave at the conclusion of the construction so that would be Theo's future. Likely given a small stake in ownership here (1%? 2%) with a smaller salary

- He stays and resigns and tries to keep the other guys here as long as possible without spiting their future careers

Yeah and why not? These guys obviously know how to build a winning team and fast. Remember the Cubs finished dead last just 3 years ago but with this team I'm thinking dynasty. This team is not only going to win this year but will win for years to come. Theo said in the press conference he want to focus on getting the FA's signed before worrying about his contract. The Cubs are going to give him whatever he wants. If I was him I would want a piece of the ownership of the team. The guy is responsible for the juggernaut that is playing now. He built the Red Sox from scratch and they have contended every year since he finished with them. The guy is really as close to a baseball genius as there is.

Theo has said specifically that it's not really something he's worried about. It's just that they haven't made time to get it done. Whether or not Theo wants to continue doing this long term is another thing but there's really no other organization that's really "better." He's been allowed to do basically whatever he wanted since day one here. He may decide he's just not interested in baseball anymore and leave(a la what happened in boston) but baring that I see no way he's not back with the cubs.

Eh, his love fest with Cherington was over. They were going to split one way or another and it was mutual.

Theo sitting at bargaining table now with his cards being that he built a team that possibly get the best record in baseball

OR

wait til after season when he could sit at table and have the cards of being possibly the NLCS champs or World Series Champs

Which hand do you think will get him the best leverage and most Chips

Epstein deal will be done before GM meeting

The Cubs should do the right thing and lock Theo and his staff up for as long as they want to work. These guys are as valuable as any player and probably more so because they know how to build a winning team. That being said I don't think they should pay him an enormous amount of money. He has to have taught someone how to do what he does. We need to keep the staff as intact as we can for as long as we can. But the Cubs are going to be a winning team for probably the next 10 years at least.
