Thibodeau thinks Rose will get more calls - Chicago Bulls Blog - ESPN Chicago

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau hit on two hot-button issues during his pregame media session Sunday night. The biggest topic of discussion was the lack of whistles for Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, and if his inability to get to the line is hurting the team in some ways. Thibodeau doesn't said Rose will eventually start getting the calls that Bulls fans have been begging for.

"We want him to get to the line more," Thibodeau said. "And we don't want him to not drive because he's not getting the calls. We want him to continue to attack. And he's got to drive with force, which he does. I think he drives with speed, and when he gets hit, he should be getting the calls."
As for Rose's communication with officials, Thibodeau thinks it's not hurting his cause.

"He's got a great way about him," Thibodeau said. "His demeanor is excellent. And he's very respectful of the officials. And I think at the appropriate times he has to make his points to the officials, which I think he's getting better at. Again, sometimes it's hard because of his speed, quickness and strength. Because it's happening so quick, sometimes [fouls are] not being recognized. But I think in time he'll get calls."
Good job by Coach Thibodeau saying in a polite manner, "**** YOU NBA, MY BOY DROSE NEEDS CALLS, HE'S A ****ING SUPERSTAR YOU IDIOTS"

*Thibodeau is still defending Bogans at the blog post.

I think Thibs needs to focus on teaching this team how to play defense without Noah and let Rose worry about getting the calls.

What is with all this Thibs hate? The guy answered a question honestly. You don't really think he's sitting there trying to figure out ways to get Rose to the line? None of that is under his control. I can assure you Thibs is not worrying about this day & night like every Bulls fan in the country is.

And all this bitching about defense without Noah...we're holding opponents to 90ppg in the 5 games since his surgery so I think Thibs is doing a pretty good job instilling his defensive principles. The problem has been the scoring droughts the last few games which has been primarily shots that are normally made are not falling.

As for Rose's no-calls, this is something that needs to be corrected & it's going to have to start with him getting a T or two to get his point across. I don't want to hear this too strong-too quick bs anymore. Isn't Lebron strong & quick too?

my only dislike for thibs has been decision to play bogans.

The problems with thibs, is our expectations are too high. we treat the guy like he's a veteran coach. many of us forget this is his rookie year. I think he's a great coach, and with some time he ought to become better handling rotations/making substitutions.

Bogan's defense has been fairly overrated the last couple of years. He hasn't brought anything to the table defensively this year, especially offensively.

Im not hating on him. Im just not praising him like many of the other Bulls fans around the world. I havent looked into the #s exactly on this 5 game stretch but from what ive seen, i dont approve. Im sure it helps playing the Sixers, Wizards, Pistons and Clippers.

But i agree offense is a bigger problem but defense is Thibs specialty and i expect more from this team. Watching the same backups drain uncontested 3s and guys getting to the paint at will isn't what i want to see.

Thibs has been good but how can you expect the defense to continue to be good when he lost his defensive anchor. Take Howard off of Orlando and they give up 120 ppg for game now. Noah isn't howard but he is almost as important. Front court D is big these days.

Thibs is right. DRose is really strong/physical and doesn't fall down automatically on contact in the paint, and that causes the refs to not blow the whistle. It's not right

Then again, it is partly DRose's own fault for not flopping around like Paul Pierce and DWade......those guys fall on any sort of physical contact in the paint.

Yesterday, was brutally awful officiating. Rose got hammered when he got a rebound and there was no call. You shoulda seen the lock on that boys face of angry, priceless.

There have been times where Rose has been leveled and not gotten the call. This goes beyond being too strong and whatnot. The refs simply just don't give him the calls he deserves.

I can honestly say in my 25 or so years of watching basketball I have never seen a superstar player with a greater blatant lack of calls than Rose. It boggles my mind. It frustrates the hell out of all of us I can only imagine how frustrated he is. If it was me in those situations I can guarantee I would be T'd up rather often.

cleveland built a website to keep lebron james, maybe we should make one to get rose foul calls. if it's good enough, it might be featured on espn chicago etc. all kinds of crap is sports news as of late, maybe the launching of a website might be news worthy.

It's not like the world doesn't already know Rose doesn't get foul calls.

funny how you see players averaging 25pts per game and 8-10pts of it comes from fts.
while Drose points mostly comes from jumpshots and drives and lesser fts.

i think the refs are more impressed w/players who can act and sell their fouls rather than players who actually plays honest basketball.lol.
