The Bulls held the Hawks to just 20 points in the first 23 minutes of the second half, but their reserves game up three easy buckets in the final minute, which displeased Tom Thibodeau.

“You want to play 48 minutes,” Thibodeau said. “I liked our defense in the second half. I didn't like the last 1:16.”

The Bulls gave up 52.5 percent shooting to Atlanta in the first half.

“I prefer the games in which we play defense early, because I think you're playing with fire when you let a team like that shoot the percentage we allowed in the first half,” Thibodeau said. “They've already gotten their confidence. Now your job is much harder."

“Even though Thibs is annoying sometimes, I think we respect how much effort he puts into it,” center Joakim Noah said. “When you see a coach put that much into it and you see him put his heart and soul in it, you can't be too mad at his intensity.”

I do. I know several of the beat reporters say Thibs is going to make adjustments after year 1 so that he doesn't burn out his players but it's so easy to see the Skiles in him.

Yeah dt and kc(?), both agreed that Thibs would tone it down after this year. I'm not terribly worried, because thibs is an extremely intelligent person, so he ought to be able to read the writing on the wall. He'll make adjustments. Hopefully.

Thibs is not like Skiles. I love Skiles but he would openly call out players in the media for not hustling or making dumb plays. Thibs has his players backs 110%. His comments speak about the overall effort. Now that's not to say that Skiles didn't back his players either. Unfortunately for Skiles, Cry-baby Wallace helped usher his early dismissal. I think this group can handle Thibs.

Is Thibs seriously worried about the defense once the game is over and he's thrown Scal in to excite the crowd? Surely this is just a dry sense of homour?

If Thibs can keep Garnett and Pierce happy, I have no worries about him keeping Joakim happy.

:noah: = winning.

I was worried I'd be the only one who caught that. It isn't Thibs who needs to read the writing on the wall, it's you guys criticizing him that need to read between the lines.

this is the only part i cared about. Thibs is relentless. It's hard to work for a guy like thibs in an office enviroment, i imagine it translates to the court.
