Who are this years most overpaid players?
1. Joe Johnson has to top this list. When his career is over he will have made 200 MILLION DOLLARS.
...I mean he's a nice player but 200 million is Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan, LeBron James kind of money. The Hawks re-signed him for 6 years and 124 million. Why on earth would anyone give him that kind of money for an okay player?
2. Jermaine O'Neal. ...So the Celtics give a slowed down Shaq 1.2 but bring in a completely spent Jermaine O'Neal in for 2 years at 6 million per. Walk me through this please.
3. Jose Calderon - Again, he's a nice player but at 9 million plus PER year for a guy whose never done better than 12 and 8 and who got you just 10 and 6 last year?
4. Amir Johnson - Toronto gave him 34 million. Who is this guy!? If he walked right past me I would have no idea who he was. Anyone know who this guy is?
5. Amare Stoudemire - 5 years 100 million? The Knicks shoul;d have learned their lesson when they took a roll of the McDyess and gave a forward with lots of injury woes a fat contract. Amare is much better than McDyess granted, but if I ran the Knicks I would cringe every time Amare got the ball.
6. Brendan Haywood got 55 million over 6 years. Strikes me as insane.
7. Besides Joe Johnson, Rashard Lewis HAS to be the most overpaid player in the NBA. Orlando gave him 116 million when he was coming into his 10th season.
By the time his contract expires in 2012-2013, he'll be in his 15th year. Making 20.5 million this year. Averaged 14 points a game last year. Hasn't won anything.
Why do guys like that get superstar money?
