the bears really need to decide what to do with long, lets assume he continues his mediocre play this season, do you pencil him in at RT and draft or sign free agent guards hoping long can become a good tackle? or do you move him back to G where you know hes a pro bowler and address the tackle spot?

He will be in the last year of his deal next season and i gotta believe he will want pro bowl type compensation whether hes at guard or tackle so why not put him back at guard and let him thrive.

It bugs me that Cutler has lost his back shoulder throw. He was so fucking good at that last 2 years with BM and Jeffery. Needs that shit back.

I really like the intensity I saw from the team. Energy stayed very high most of the game.

Bears will still lose a bunch more games this year. But like you said, it is very important that they get a taste of success every now and then to help keep energy up and keep them progressing game to game, regardless of the record.

Why? He wants a good if not prefect situation. He wants a quality defensive coordinator. He does not want to walk into a situation that might back fire and have to wait many years if not never, to be had coach again.

All this talk of Gase leaving for "any job" is crazy. He turned down the 49ers job because he wanted to keep Fangio. Why would he jump at a job with the Lions, Dolphins, Chargers, Titans or any other bad team?

I see his situation possibly similar to Jason Garrett. He could be the OC for a few more years and transition into our head coach. By then he'd have the team he helped define. That is what i think is in his best interest. Just look at what's happening to Mike McCoy. Do you think if McCoy gets fired he'll have another chance to be a head coach anytime soon let alone ever again.

Which is why I still don't understand letting the other true NT on the team go, Terry Williams and not re-signing him. There's definitely got to be more to this story than we're hearing about.

Yeah, I seem to recall Jerry Jones coveting Jason Garrett, and it was reported that he would eventually be the next Cowboys head coach if stayed on staff. And I also recall that other teams tried to go after him, but he declined.

I keep hear the guys on the radio talk about how the Bears fans outnumbered the Chargers fans. They said Cutler had to try and quiet down the Bears fans at one point. Which means the Bear fans outside of the city of Chicago are just as ignorant about keeping shit quiet when the Bears are on offense. Which is understandable seeing as the Bears strength was defense and running the ball for decades. With very little consideration to building a modern style offense.

the point i was trying to make was long knows his value as a guard which is higher than what he could get as a right tackle. why stay with the bears and get paid less to play at right tackle where he can play guard and get paid significantly more with the bears or on the open market and if they did want to franchise him its going to cost upwards of 13mill.

ok so windy do you see long being a pro bowl RT? I know theres still half a season to go but so far he seems to have trouble with speed off the edge and whether thats simply poor footwork or bad technique if he's going to get paid 8mill plus i'd rather see him at his best position.

Agreed. The Bears fans do need to learn when to STFU when the offense is on the field. Make as much noise as you want after the play but keep quiet prior to the snap. When the bears are on defense you get as loud as humanly possible. That's how they do it in Seattle and it's proven to have a degree of impact.
