It seemed like we were on a little roll before the all star break with Seabs & Keith, then Campbell & Hhjalmarsson and Leddy & Hendry pairing up together.

Any thoughts on why Qs splitting Seabs & Keith and putting them with Hjalmarsson & Leddy respectively and Campbell with Hendry?

Why does he keep playing Hendry for 5 or 6 games, then suiting up Boynton - whose minuses far outweigh any positives - for a stretch while Hendry sits?????

On the subject of D - I've been impressed with Leddy. I think he has smarts and you see it in his decision-making. He seems cognizant of when it will benefit the team for him to make a smart, safe play v. a more-risky one. He also has responded to the challenge well in general... I hope to see more of him with the Hawks.

I think this is similar to Hjalmarsson last year and why he and Campbell were so complementary as a pair.

I don't mind the pairings right now.

To be honest, any way you spin them they look nice without Boynton in the line-up.

It's one of the puzzling things about Q. Sometimes a lineup change makes sense based on some play in the game or injuries. Other times they can be a head scratcher. I pretty much have stopped trying to figure it out and just assume he has a reason based on something that I never saw or was not aware of.

The latest d-pairings are interesting. Leddy and Keith are more jump up d-men whereas Seabrook and Hjalmarsson are more hang back d-men - so it would seem that they wouldn't be well suited pairings. Leddy and Keith were both out of the picture on that flukey goal in Dallas that had two Stars against Turco in the crease - until Keith showed up and batted the puck in. So from one perspective neither Keith or Leddy are going to knock anyone out of the crease ... but then neither is anyone else except for Seabrook (once in a while) so I guess it doesn't matter who Seabrook plays with - the other 2 d-pairings will be soft and unable/unwilling to protect the crease.

I saw two plays from Leddy against Phoenix worth noting - one good the other bad. He got caught flat footed while Vrbata dashed by him to score the 1st goal - hopefully a rookie mental lapse. The good play was he shadowed the yote puck carrier into the d-zone and checked him into the boards knocking him over and taking away the puck. A rare sight this season to see one of the Hawk d-men take the body and actually separate the guy from the puck. It showed me a lot that he played it correctly and was physical.

My opinion of Leddy is growing. Still young and makes mistakes but he shows patience and makes good decisions. He might just be a keeper.
