A defensive guru should be able to know how to deploy someone like Rose and/or James. Especially, in the case of TBone. He's spent a lot of time under the hood trying to scheme against Rose and James in the past 3 postseasons.

If Rose is capable of going up against the best defensive schemer and also, possibly, the best on ball defending PG, in Rondo, and still get his, Im sure TBone would know how and why he is so good and therefore put him in optimum situations on offense.

Ive read that LeBron is intrigued by the triangle. The triangle he should be looking at is the Cleveland-Boston-Chicago triangle. All three teams have locked horns over the past 3 years and all three teams are familair with each other. Combining the biggest assets from that triangle could be huge.

You also neglected to mention that LeBron and TBone share the same representation. And if, say, LeBron doesnt join forces with TBone and Rose, he may regret it. If he continues to lose to TBone, when he could have played for him, he may never live that down. So, these two things create leverage, in a way, if LeBron wants to win. We've weakend Boston and made oursselves stronger, and we'll probably continue to get stronger with our draft pick and cap flexibility.

The thing is that a few weeks ago, you heard Cal to the Bulls a lot and that WWW was pushing this as a package deal. But then you heard the Bulls werent exactly high on Cal and definitely didnt like ceding the power he was asking to him. It seems, shortly after that TBone signed with WWW/CAA (?) and you have to wonder if there was some mutual dialog going on that led WWW to look at bringing in someone the Bulls would like and implicitly someone they could also pair LeBron with.

Thats total speculation but still. The timing of TBone signing with WWW kind of leaves it open to speculation.

You got a point Lex and also dont forget how the Bulls pounced on Thibs right away. They knew he wouldnt sign with the Hornets but the Nets had talked to him as well. Prokorov would have thrown a mountain of cash at him and if he would have signed with them it would have made the Nets more appealing. Right now the Bulls are winning the off-season. Im praying this leads to Lebron.

Boston Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau accepts offer to coach the Chicago Bulls - ESPN Chicago

Although an official announcement will have to wait until after the NBA Finals, Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau has accepted an offer to become the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls, a source told ESPNChicago.com on Saturday.

This development comes after ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported Thibodeau had withdrawn his name from consideration for the New Orleans Hornets' coaching job.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers would not confirm the reports before Boston practiced the day before Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

"I hope it's true, but we're not going to comment on it, I can tell you that," Rivers said. "We're focused on the NBA Finals. There's two teams. There's the Lakers and the Celtics, and that's what we're going to keep the focus on.

"But on Tom, he deserves the job. I think he's the best candidate out there. I've said that for three years now. So let's hope it's true."

In addition to getting interest from the Bulls and Hornets, Thibodeau was a strong candidate for the New Jersey Nets' coaching opening, Stein reported. Thibodeau interviewed with the Nets before the Celtics left the East Coast for Los Angeles for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Early in the Bulls' coaching search, conventional wisdom indicated the team was looking at candidates who had prior head coaching experience. Thibodeau's extensive experience as an assistant, however, was enough.

ESPNChicago.com had reported the Bulls were impressed with Thibodeau's basketball knowledge after a recent interview.

Those who worked closely with Thibodeau had high praise for him.

"Tom's a workaholic," Celtics forward Paul Pierce told ESPNChicago.com recently. "I'm always catching him in there working, watching film in his office. He's probably the most prepared coach I've ever seen."

Rivers agreed.

"It's tough to get a picture of him, because he's always in the office," Rivers told ESPNChicago.com.

"Tom has great focus and [the players] buy in. That's really important. You can sell it, what we want, but we make it a point that, if you don't buy in, you don't play. I think whenever you have a -- [Orlando Magic assistant] Brendan Malone, the same thing here -- the Magic know Brendan, just like [the Celtics] know with Thibs, Stan [Van Gundy] is going to back Brendan 100 percent and I'm going to do the same with Thibs."

Prior to his stint in Boston, Thibodeau served as an assistant in Minnesota, San Antonio, Philadelphia, New York and Houston. Thibodeau will replace Vinny Del Negro, who had an 82-82 record in two seasons with the Bulls.

Vinny didn't coach a high school basketball game when he was hired. Thibodeau has been a highly regarded assistant head coach for 20 years. Big difference there. Great hire.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. North Carolina Tar Heels
I like this.

Defense was a weakness for us last season, hopefully with Thibodeau who focuses on defense we can improve.
