Bored enough to do this list....this is for @Omeletpants and in honor of the upcoming Independence day

1. Cheese - this is a no brainer. Big fan of pepper jack
2. Bacon - it's bacon
3. Pickles - this can go a long ways on a burger. A good pickle is almost crucial
4. Onions (including caramelized) - used to hate as a kid, now I put them on anything
5. Tomato - similar to an onion. Tomato's are a great addition, but beware because a bad tomato could totally ruin it
6. Grilled pineapple w/ a lil mango pico
7. Corn dressed in Cholula - excellent
8. Pretzels w/ mustard - I love a good crunch (Also Doritos and Ranch)
9. Avocado - kinda bland by itself, but a nice way to mix it up
10. Fried Egg - some people love it, I think it's just OK but enough to make the list

My perfect burger includes the following: mozzarella (Dont' 8 me, but I've never been a fan of American or Cheddar), bacon, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles, and avocado. If I'm feeling spicy, throw on the jalapenos. If I'm hungover, throw on the fried egg.

Now, of course if I'm going to a place that has great meat, I'm getting nothing (maybe onions and pickle). For instance, Nick's Tavern in Lemont makes one of the best hamburgers around, and you don't need all that jazz to compliment it. But the run of the mill hamburger at (insert name here), yeah, put the shit on there.

Personally, lettuce and tomato do nothing but ruin a perfectly good hamburger.

A1 is a condiment, not a topping.

Chili (topping)

Cream cheese icing (condiment)

Cheese, just no Kraft singles or Velveeta, actual fucking cheese.
Bacon sure, crispy, limp bacon on a burger pulls out like a Catholic.
Pickles are a must, also pickled other things, onions, jalapenos, anything except beets.
Onions are a must, I sometimes get caramelized and raw on the same burger.
No to tomatoes in restaurant burgers, If i'm making the burger the tomato is de-seeded and great.
Pineapple, LOL
Corn, see above.
Pretzels w/ mustard. never heard of that , pretzel rolls are a big deal, not a fan, too muck bite pressure, burger falls apart.
Avocado in sliced form destroys a burgers structural integrity, smash it up season and use as a condiment.
Fried egg, **** no, impossible to contain the yoke.

Country Bob's Stake Sauce, never on a steak, pretty good on a burger. It's basically Ketchup and worcestershire sauce, try it out, everybody has those two two things at home.

Pretzels with a good stone mustard is an amazing treat. Of course, I prefer the soft pretzel. Not the hard pretzels you get in the bag at the store.

Or a spicy brown mustard. I'm not talking about French's yellow. But it has to be the big soft pretzels, like you'd get at the ballpark.

Burgers should not be overwhelmed by the topping. The topping is meant to be the accent.

Two or three toppings max on top, lettuce on the bottom to protect the bottom bun from the burger juices.

Burger should be made with a mixture of ground chuck and brisket or rib meat. Mix with onion and garlic powder and an egg yolk.

Grilled on a wood grill or a skillet and then finished in an oven. Cooked in duck fat. Med or better yet medium rare.

Brioche bun toasted on an iron skillet with Irish cream butter.

Lettuce on bottom to protect bun. If it’s a summer grilling burger you can add tomato, onion and cheese. Not raw onion as it overwhelms the burger.

A dinner burger should consist of lettuce on the bottom and thick savory toppings like thick pepper bacon or sautéed garlic mushrooms with a punchy cheese like blue, guoda or a lively Swiss.

No sauces. Sauces are for dry shitty tasting burgers.
