I don't know how many here care about golf... I love the game.

The Masters (What I consider the best major because it's always at the same course) starts Thursday and Tiger is out.
He is the greatest player of the current golf generation and could have been the GOAT... most believed he would make it.
I love the Masters and always watch it all... Tiger not being there is a bummer.
I remember many great ones before Tiger but something is missing without him.
He turns 40 this year... Only 20 people have ever won a major past 40....
I don't think he will ever get his 15th... and that is a shame.
It's hard to think of another sport/game star who had his impact and then fell so fast... after burning so bright.

I don't know your thoughts on the game... or really give a shit.
I just wanted to share my thoughts on the best player in 20 years being absent.
Kind of sucks...

Not at the Masters... Usually at Denny's if memory serves.
But not really my point.

So, you think of golf as a sport of sorts?

I know many people thought he would break Nicklaus' record. Of course he was cruising toward it, but the field caught up with his driving distance and his injuries took him out. He was certainly an exciting player, but it's highly unlikely he ever wins another major. His advantage was always having a shorter hole to play than the rest of the field. It's not there any longer. You have to respect someone's game when that person is at the top and retrains his swing several times to remain the top player in the world. Golf is missing that excitement right now.

Not sure you should ever put Golf and excitement in the same sentence !

I agree... If you don't play it you don't get it.., I was the same until I caught the fever around 1991.
My regular saturday game is now my favorite time of the week, other than my lady giving me that look.

Why do we not have a golf forum? With a frolf subforum?

I mean... we have a fire forum... surely there's more golf fans here than MLS fans..

Occasionally I wander in to the Fire forum by mistake and am attacked by roving herds of tumbleweeds.

Tiger fucked himself in addition to the whores, and now his body is breaking down.

If you ever drove a 410 yard hole with a shot at an eagle on a par 4, you would get the excitement.

Illogical. Because golf sucks and I'd never waste my time trying to get good enough to be able to hit a ball that far or accurately.

Everything went downhill with Tiger Woods when his marriage hit the skids.

After hitting my buddy sitting in the cart with my tee shot I was asked to stop showing up. It left a pretty good mark. He thought I broke his rib. He also didn't like how hard the rest of us were laughing. That was a fun day of drinking.

Loved, Loved Tiger as a player.
The guy that immediately came to mind that fell so quickly was Mario Lemieux. In Mario's case it was cancer instead of injuries.
Denny McClain is another in baseball that just had his career come to an end quickly.
The reverse would be someone like Sandy Koufax. Had two different careers. One bad and then one HOF.
