Supposedly, Ben Cherington was really impressed by Ausmus when he interviewed him last off season, but obviously not enough that would have made him not trade for Farrell from the Jays.

To Cherington's credit, trading for Farrell was obviously the right move. All I've heard about Ausmus is positive -- but you never know with a first-time manager.

all i know is that window for a championship is getting closer to being shut. theres gonna be some really bad money on the books.

They're going to have to pay drinky the same as Verlander, at minimum.

16M for Sanchez


Drinky, Fister, Scherzer, Jackson, all hitting the market soon, and given what they gave Sanchez, and fatty; Scherzer, drinky-wife beaty, and Fister will be foaming at the mouth.

I hope they never win a damn thing so all those bandwagon Michiganders can go cry crocodile tears.

Only thing going for them is that they're hoping for a TV deal soon, but Fox has to know that their window is closing, and that after they fall off a cliff they'll go back to no one giving a shit about them.

Really like the Ausmus hire for Detroit. He'll only have a few years with this current squad to compete realistically for a World Series, but I think he's got the ability to do so. His qualifications speak for themselves and the amount of praise he received from boston and his reputation around the game are what impressed me. Detroit got the best guy out there, IMO.
