TLDR was watching a video on best mlb duos and arod/griffey got brought up. I got to thinking how lucky they were to take 2 generational picks when they had the #1 pick but i then got curious how well the cubs had done #1 overall. Turns out unless I'm mistaken with my quick google search the only player the cubs have taken #1 overall was Dunston in 82. Cubs were pretty good at #2 overall however taking Joe Carter, Bryant, and Prior along with Terry Hughes who was a bust. Late 90's to 2000's #3 overall was YIKES. Corey Patterson, Lou Montañez, and Vitters. Other #3 was Drew Hall in 84.
