So....

My mom calls me last night and wants to sell her 4 weeks of time share.

2 weeks in the Keys, 2 weeks in St. Martin.

My problem is-- I have no clue how to sell time shares, and I have no clue what's a reputable way of finding buyers for this.

Of course they want to sell in this economy, but they have had them for years, so I know they'd rather have them off their hands than to make a huge profit.

Anyone own, or have dealt with time shares, or know anyone who has?

I'm very uneducated on the subject, so any advice helps.

I'm sorry I can't be of any help here, but can I ask which island it is in the keys?

Key West. I went down there in 1999, and the place was awesome.

Apparently the re-sale industry of time shares is rife with scams. I'd recommend caution and a healthy dose of scepticism when approaching this.

Also should consider renting it.

Hope that helps.

If they did it through an association or big company (RCI, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndham, Disney, etc) then I would think they would need to consult them on the sale or closure of their account. My mom has an account through Wyndham and my sister has one through RCI. I don't know that they would have to find a 'buyer' if they couldn't pay the ownership fees anymore. I would do some research on how they bought it and also on the big companies that I mentioned.

Are they Vacation Owners or do they co own a property in those locations you mentioned?
